11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What's a good age to teach children to knit? on: October 05, 2005 11:59:29 AM
I teach a week-long sewing camp in the summer (at the school where I teach) where we make simple beanie-baby type animals. I'm thinking I'd like to do knitting this summer. I would have 10 kids and can write my own proposal. What would be a good age to start with? Remember there will only be one teacher but 10 kids so it'll have to be a little older than if I could sit with one child the whole day. I'm a skilled enough knitter to teach it - just looking for ideas so the kids aren't frustrated. I've never taught a child to knit! Also, if anyone has done this and has other suggestions... I'm thiinking a field trip to a LYS or a sheep farm.... We'll probably do dishcloths or skinny scarves...

12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Branching Out from Knitty on: June 04, 2005 05:25:53 PM
I never joined the knitaloing so I guess I'll post my Branching Out here.

It's done in Koigu which is lovely. It was hard to pick up the lace pattern in a picture but this shows it okay I guess....

13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / feather and fan baby blanket on: May 16, 2005 06:29:39 PM
Easy and fast but it came out great!

Here's a closeup of the pattern but the color is way off. It's really white!

14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Has anyone worked on the Charlotte's Web shawl? on: March 25, 2005 08:20:53 AM
I have questions! I'm about to go off the written directions and use the chart. I wish someone had the pattern written out somewhere. I'm having a rough time with the chart.... I'm going to put markers around the center stitch and I see a lot of blogs that say to mark off every 8 stitch repeat but I don't quite get what that means.... Anyone knitting this that can give tips?

15  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Here's my Paris Loop! on: October 02, 2004 08:06:33 PM
I don't think anyone's reading the Knitalong thread anymore so here's a pic of my Paris Loop in Gedifra Cicco. I have enough to make another one in olive green. It's so comfy!

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I'm knitting Charlotte's Web! on: July 02, 2004 04:23:26 AM
I know a few of us here had "talked" about wanting to make Charlotte's Web so I thought I'd post and say I ordered the yarn in a gorgeous colorway called "cranapple" (five different colored skeins) from Rob at Threadbear. I won't be starting right away but I'm in the Charlotte Knit Behind and we have until April 15, 2005 to finish! Has anyone else decided to make this?

18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / pineapple and palm tree purse on: May 08, 2004 03:38:25 PM
Here's a finished purse in time for summer. What do you think?
Here's a closer picture of the fabric...
The pictures aren't great. Not the best camera at work...
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Any Noro Kureyon lovers out there? on: April 27, 2004 12:26:01 PM
I have ten skeins of BEAUTIFUL Noro Kureyon (color #124) - dark reds and pinks, etc. I am thinking of a simple triangular shawl since the yarn is so pretty. What else besides the Booga Bag should I consider to make with this yarn? Is the yarn too rough for a nice snuggly shawl?

Thanks in advance knitters!

20  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / How do I make a logo? on: April 16, 2004 09:28:24 AM
I mean, I can creatively come up with one but how do I do it so that it can be used on tags for my "product" and on the web if I sell through consignment? Should it be done on a computer or drawn and printed by a printer?

Thanks in advance for any help...
