11  Re: Saharah: Stitch Diva (Knit & Tonic) in Knitalongs by ijsblokje on: February 21, 2007 08:30:24 PM
wheeee  I finally finished mine!!  (well, I still need to weave in a bunch of ends.. shh)

the top half is size XS and the bottom half is size M
the yarn is debbie bliss cashmerino aran

haha.  um, I wanted to show a closer up shot, but the only one I had was a boob shot my silly bf took.  I thought it was a decent photo, but I didn't want to show you guys a gratuitous boob shot.

This sweater fits so well.  And this is my first full on sweater that I've finished.  I made a sort of bolero/shrug last year, but that was very minimal.
I love this pattern so much that I caved a couple weeks ago and bought enough yarn (elann.com Peruvian Highland Silk in Calypso Green) to make a long sleeved version.  Cheesy

I did the first 10 rows today.  I'm using yarn (noro silk garden) from a half-knit scarf.  Yes, I know the scarf is lovely, but I hadn't knit any rows since June or July and goodness knows, I don't need another scarf.  We'll see how this goes.  (I haven't completely frogged the scarf yet)
The colors are kind of accurate.  Those pinks were a little too intense for my camera.  Oh and the weird little flecks in the knitted bit is some gold 'blending thread' or whatever the hell it's called.  shiny thin stuff

13  Re: i have just revolutionized the {knit} cupcake in Knitting: Completed Projects by ijsblokje on: January 22, 2007 07:35:50 PM
I've used this pattern before.  When I insert the plastic bottle bottom, I stab a hole into the bottom of it, pull the cast on tail through and tie it in a knit.

see?  same basic idea.

I'm crazy for knitted cupcakes.  I just started a giant one.

As mentioned above, the pattern includes 3 inches of negative ease.  For instance, I'm about a 33-34" bust, so I'm knitting the XS (31").  31" + 3" = 34".  If you think she'd like the snug fit the sweater is designed to have, knit the S (33"), but if you think she'd prefer a looser fit, go with the M (37").  33+3= 36 37+3=40
I hope we helped some.

Oh and I thought I'd finally post a progress photo.  I'm currently on the last increase row, which is when the photo was taken.

Again, the yarn is debbie bliss cashmerino aran in color 607.
Cheesy  being held down by monsieur elefante and a lovely bowl I bought in Mexico last week.  sigh.. I wish I were still there.

ok, edit: I just tried it on.  I guess my middle is more a smal to medium than an XS, which is the size I'm making.  I know I need to add more sts, but I'm not really sure how many.    The most feasible and what would probably fit is to increase to the stitch count for the S size aka 148 sts.  I hope I can squeeze that in well enough.  Undecided
This works out ok, I think because I want it longer than it's supposed to be.   enough jabbering.. back to knitting

15  Re: New Knitty's Calorimetry in Knitalongs by ijsblokje on: December 15, 2006 01:07:16 AM

I really hate taking photos of myself in the mirror.  But what are you going to do at 3 am?  I need sleep. Sad
I have a button, but I'm too sleepy to sew it on or weave in the ends.
Oh, I cast on 100 sts and it fits me pretty well except for the fact that I think it's too wide for my tiny little head.
I do kind of like how it looks with what's turning into a mullet at the back of my head. :\

These are more true colors.  Noro Silk Garden in some colorway.  #2xx

Um... does anyone else think this thing looks a bit vaginal?  I intentionally avoided using pink, because I knew it was going to end up looking kind of like this.  haha

wheeeee!  I finally finished my "norwegian legwarmers"

I posted photos and info about these in the completed projects section, but I thought I'd add photos here too.  I'm so proud of these! Cheesy

17  Re: Curiously Clever Clogs anyone? in Knitalongs by ijsblokje on: November 17, 2006 08:45:28 PM
I haven't yet been added to the kal on blogspot, so I'll post my in progress photos here.

the colors are knitpicks wool of the andes in amethyst heather, chambray, and hyacinth.  I'm using glass beads I bought at michael's.

these have been going so quickly.  I'm confident that I'll have them done by Christmas.

18  Re: Too many WIPs-along in Knitalongs by ijsblokje on: October 27, 2006 02:44:09 PM

Earlier this week I came to a stopping point on my random numbers log cabin blanket.  It's definitely not finished, but I ran out of yarn.  At present, it's 25.5" x 24".
I plan on ordering more yarn for it this weekend.
by the way, it's 5 skeins of Colonia 140 from handpaintedyarn.com (Geranio, Amatista, Buscando Azul, Ambar, and Lettuce)

oh man, I can't wait to graduate in May.  I'm sick of writing research papers!

I finally finished my first ever sock!  it's the log cabin socks from Handknit Holidays.

ha  it's so hard to photograph yourself wearing knitted things.  I swear, my foot isn't that short and stumpy!  haha

Now I just need to make another one...

20  Re: Band Cuffs pattern by Craftster's Knitwit in Knitalongs by ijsblokje on: August 05, 2006 11:12:56 PM

This probably took me an hour to make.  I used 2 different leftover chunky/bulky yarns.
