31  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / PDQ Boy Beanie on: October 20, 2006 04:19:49 PM
I combined the PDQ and the Boy Beanie from The Happy Hooker and made this for my brother:

I  just used yarn from my stash; chocolate brown with two stripes of light blue, acrylic I think.

He likes it. He will wear it when he's riding his bicycle, it's -3 degrees Celsius in Alberta at the moment.
32  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Made of felt, Yoda is on: October 19, 2006 02:09:40 PM
I made this little felt stuffed Yoda, sewing the edges with blanket stitch in thread; details were done with a fine Sharpie, even added hairs to the head....

I made it as a surprise for a kid who was sick and I thought he liked Star Wars. Apparently around 8years old, their interests change really fast..... it's apparent, I'm not a parent.
33  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Anyone else get numb fingers from crochet? on: October 02, 2006 05:45:40 PM
I crocheted for 3 hours on Friday, but had a numb finger until Monday morning. My hand is on top of the needle and the hook rests on the first joint above my ring (on the ring finger). Changing positions may be an option, it's like writing with your other hand!

Does anyone else get this? That was scary.
Any suggestions?
34  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Bagpipe Bear on: October 02, 2006 05:40:30 PM
I knitted a little sweater for a bear in cream acrylic - it's a turtleneck with little mini cables. And a little tam. What do you think?

I call him Robbie Mc Bearns.

My dear Scottish and Irish friends, don't get mad at me, I know it's not accurate, he's just a bear..... ~_~
35  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Bear Clothes on: September 12, 2006 01:59:35 PM
Here's a little knitted chef's coat, with a crocheted chef's hat and crocheted cupcake to dress a little bear (like the kind from Michael's). It can go with the miniature cookbook I found while thrifting. I called him Chef Hebert (pronounced "Chef A Bear)
36  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / What is this? on: September 12, 2006 11:55:22 AM
I received this plastic item in a mixed bag from the thrift store in Vancouver, Canada. It was mixed in with knitting tools, but I'm not sure it has anything to do with knitting. Printed on it is "Eaton's Silver Shop". Is it a silver cleaner of some sort? What is it? Does it have a purpose? Is it part of anything?

(Eaton's used to be a department store but has since gone out of business).

Any ideas? I'd really like to know. Thanks!
37  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Amigurumi Girl - Mei Joon on: June 22, 2006 07:38:11 AM
Here's my first attempt at Amigurumi. This is from the pattern in this month's Bust magazine. With some minor changes.
Since she was born on the first day of summer, I've named he Mei Joon. (get it? Mei Joon = May June)

I will be adding a little "M" to her shirt, because I didn't get the yarn for her shirt tight enough, and I think she needs some embellishment.

38  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Amethyst Boucle - What would you do with it? on: May 15, 2006 02:04:57 PM
I found 2 1/2 balls of Bernat Soft Boucle in a thrift store. I thought it would be easy to do something with it, but once I got home and checked my patterns, I can't find anything (besides a scarf). Any suggestions?
