31  Steampunk altered tea tin in Completed Projects by SonjaBoo on: March 09, 2017 04:01:54 PM
I made this tin for Wulf during the altered tea tin swap from a former Twinnings herbal tea tin. I haven't made many steampunk items, but really loved creating this!

Here's the tin in the beginning stages:

I used a variety of alcohol inks and patina paints to get the copper colors. For the outer sides and top, I ran some sheets of metallic sticker paper through my Sizzix Big Shot and embossed them with a brick folder and a clock folder. Then I went to work on those surfaces with the inks and paints.

The knob on top is something I had in my craft hoard, the feet are from the Ranger line and the gears on the front were also from my stash. I personalized the inside with Wulf's name and some fun letters that I distressed.

All in all, this was one of my favorite projects ever! Thanks for looking!

I received a phenomenal tin from camelama last night! She created a bee tea party for me -- how awesome is that?

Here's the back, which is also gorgeous:

And a close up of the tea party. There are even bees buzzing around to check out the goods!

And a final photo with all the extras she included-- I can have my own tea party now!

Thank you so much for an amazing swap, camelama!

I received an awesome artist's choice card from bunny1kenobi! How hilarious are these gals? Thank you so much!

I'm sorry it took so long to get a photo up -- I had to do some travel for work at the last minute.  This card made my day! Cheesy

I am back! I will be updating feedback today, so we should all be caught up.

Also, I finally have photos of the wonderful heart and package that Smmarrt sent along. Needless to say, this heart is staying up all year! It's made with layers and layers of different kinds of papers -- so much awesome texture. Not sure my photos reflect that, but trust me, it's awesome!

Smmarrt also sent along some extra goodies, so I feel totally spoiled. Candy, stickers, cookie cutters and a mystery bag of awesomeness. Cheesy

Inside the mystery bag of awesomeness -- valentine tags, heart bezels and a wooden heart!

Thank you so much Smmarrt for such a wonderful swap! Cheesy

craftylittlemonkey, I LOVE that flamingo! So fun!

kbrison, that card is amazing! That looks really complicated!

I actually have a challenge entry for February! I had these adorable black cat stickers that I have been hoarding for ages. They finally got made into a tag series. The backgrounds are done with sprays and stencils.

I am also horribly behind on commenting -- this is a great gallery!

I received and awesome card from BigBangMomma! She went with my theme of using a hand carved bird stamp. Love this! (I can't tell if I have this sideways or right side up... I apologize if it's sideways, though it's still awesome either way!)

Thanks so much! Cheesy

38  Re: Paper De-Stash and Junk Journal Goodies 2016 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by SonjaBoo on: January 18, 2017 04:12:04 AM
I have been working on a junk journal/altered book from the goodies that mom2em sent to me. (I intend to do the same with the papers that Wulf sent too.) It's a challenge to me to actually USE stuff and not just stare at it and think about how much I love it.

This photo may or may not come out correctly -- Craftster photo editing is not always my friend. The book base is a board book that mom2em sent along, and the cover is made from various chipboard pieces that I have gessoed and painted.

I talked about it a little more in the Junk Journal-along if anyone wants to see more!

Thank you again, mom2em for the box of inspiration! Cheesy

39  Re: Junk Journal-along 2017 - Let's keep on making books! in Craftalongs by SonjaBoo on: January 18, 2017 04:06:19 AM
Love those pages, Smmarrt! The fast and easy guy wearing the caftan is hilarious. Cheesy

I started a project recently obsessed with. I received a small tonage of goodies from mom2em in the recent paper stash swap, and started to work on this book.

The covers generally started out like this:

Then got gessoed and painted:

Here are some page photos. The only rule of the book is it has to be made from items that mom2em sent along. I have painted and stenciled on many things, but they are still the original items!

Here's a look from the top. I'm hoping this photo doesn't come out wonky -- Craftster photo editing doesn't always like my iPhone photos.

It's not done yet, but I'm happy with the progress so far. It's really freeing using materials that someone else sent along to you! I feel like I can experiment a little more.

Wulf, I have to admit when I opened your package, I kept thinking how incredibly familiar everything seemed! Ha! Great paper-hoarding minds think alike.

And I have taken forever to get these photos up -- I received an incredible haul of papers from Wulf last week.
An overview of everything on my coffee table -- there are layers here! Painted papers, photos, ephemera, pages of text, great vintage ads... so much fun.

A few of my favorites:

This is hilarious -- an ad talking about the psychological diagnosis of being fat. I laugh about this every time I look at it!

Thank you so much Wulf for a wonderful swap! I can't wait to get started with a new project. Cheesy
