1 JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Slave Bracelets! I want to make one! on: January 09, 2010 01:27:56 PM
I'm dying to make a slave bracelet/handflower but I have a few questions on how to go about making one.

How do I measure my hand for a slave bracelet/handflower?
If I were going to make a slave bracelet/handflower for someone else, how do I measure for them?

Last but not least, list as many tutorials/tips/how-tos you can find regarding the construction of slave bracelet/handflowers. The only thing I can't do are the ones in chainmaille because I don't know how to.

Thank you!
2 KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Measuring Hands for handwarmers? on: December 18, 2009 01:28:55 PM
I'm considering making handwarmers to make some money and I'd like to know I can properly measure and describe what size the handwarmers are? Do I go by mitten/glove size?

Thank you!
3 CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / I'm considering knitting items - I have questions on: December 18, 2009 01:26:00 PM
I have an etsy store and in 2010, I'm looking to expand it into knitting scarves, some hats and handwarmers. I have a few designs already for a few handwarmers and hats (I've even tried them out in giving them as Christmas presents and they were a hit).

I have a few questions for those who have made some money from knitting.

What are the copyrights I should be aware of in terms of stitches?

What are the copyrights I should be aware of in other areas?

Is there a place I can find that has copyright-free stitches?

Is there anything else I need to know before I start selling knitwear?

Thank you!
4 JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Tutorial/ How-to on how to make a tri-chain necklace? on: August 14, 2009 05:55:31 PM
I have an idea for a tri-chain necklace. This is not a tri-strand beading necklace that are popular right now, but one that would involve chains and three pendants. I can't seem to find any tutorials or any how-to's on how to accomplish this. Can someone help me find one? For reference on what I would want this necklace to look like, I have provided picture links below.

A tutorial/how-to on either design would be perfect. Thank you! Smiley
5 MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Pyrography on a palm tree? on: June 20, 2009 07:03:18 PM
Since I live in Florida, there are a ton of palm tree pieces on the ground throughout the year. I'm an amateur pyrographer but I have an idea of recycling pieces of the palm tree by burning images on the surface.

My question is has anyone done this before and how did they do it? How did they treat the pieces from becoming brittle and falling apart? Can it be done at all?

Thank you in advance!
6 FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Attaching A Weave to Canvas? on: December 21, 2008 12:05:21 PM
I'm making a piece that has multiple textures in it: Weave for the background, the figure will be 2D and felted and another object of the piece will be wire. I want it to be on a canvas material. How do I attach the weave and other items onto a piece of canvas? Will this work?

Thank you to everyone in advance who replies. Cheesy

8 FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Felt onto weave? on: December 12, 2008 03:34:48 PM
Thank you. That's what I was thinking of doing. Do they have to be the same material to stick together or does it not matter?
9 FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Felt onto weave? on: December 11, 2008 04:42:52 PM
I want to make a fiber art tapestry of different textures with the background being a woven grey material. Is it possible for me to felt over a weaving?
10 KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Recommended Sweater Pattern For A Intermediate-Beginner? on: December 11, 2008 04:40:03 PM
I bought this beautiful soft purple yarn a few months ago and I would really like to knit a real garment with it. The only items I know how to knit so far are handwarmers, hats and scarves with two needles.

Can anyone recommend a good sweater, blouse or cardigan pattern for a beginner like me?

Thanks in advance! Cheesy
