1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / The Men Will Always Underestimate Us Starwars Top on: April 07, 2008 08:21:45 PM
Hello everyone! Its been a while, but Ive been so busy with soap making and clothes, and kiddies.. life has just been HECTIC!!

So two weeks ago I had a discussion with someone about this fabric I had laying around. It was pretty much Starwars Charactors heads with their names underneath it. Since Im a total geekatron, I personally LOVE starwars. So I KNEW it could be made into something hot.

My friend said "omg what are you gonna do with THAT??" in a very VERY snotty tone. My response was "Im gonna make a really cute top with it" (insert condescending laugh here).." its all in the design" I explained. please.. he snickered... I bet you couldn't make a sell able top in that fabric.

What? what? do I smell a challenge?!?!? Sheesh.. men.. always underestimating us..  So.. a 100.00 bet later... here it is. And guess what I LOVE IT! The knit is supersoft jersey knit. like kid jammie type stretchy stuff. and the blue is taken from a huge blue xxxl shirt I had laying around waiting for reconstruction.

Now this top not only features obi wan kenobi, but Anakin, Darth Vador and PRINCESS LEA! SQUEALLLLLLL!
Im SO tempted to keep it. And I just might..Im really considering it..  Star wars with lace and PUFFY SLEEVES?!?! Anyway this thing rolls, I win Tongue

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Being a Girl Rocks Top (IMG OBESE) on: January 30, 2008 10:22:32 AM
I hate winter, so in my dreams of warm weather I made this out of some really soft thin jersey knit that I inherited from a designer friend of mine who was moving and had to unload a ton of fabric. Yeay!  I had some superwide lace trim in my trim bin and thought it would be perfect to go around the shoulders. The colors are off white and light beige with beige lace. The buttons are covered in the beige knit and lace overlay..

Excuse my goofball face. I was T I R E D and CRANKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(haha I changed the title on ya.. sorry I had to)
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Hes A Cheating Bastard Top (img heavy) on: December 31, 2007 01:47:10 PM
So this holiday sucked for me. Found out bf of 3 years was cheating.. and posted about it all on some messageboard.. yeah it wasn't fun.  So for those of you who may ever have the unfortunate luck of having this happen to you, this is what you do.

1. get lit up like a Christmas tree on xmas eve
2. rearrange all of your furniture
3. sew a cute top
4. move on.

So.. here its is the "hes a cheating bastard" top.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my top... yeah its girly... but the kind of girl that will kick your arse! on: October 08, 2007 09:04:05 PM
ok so to the peeps who I promised the tutorial for the foldover collar.. its on its way, I just have to write it. I did the tutorial while making this top!

The flowery fabric is leftover yana fabric.. and the arms and neckline are my jersey knit.

I love it. Its pretty heavy and warm. Will be awesome for winter! WOO HOO.. So stay tuned... foldover collar tute is ON THE WAY

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / a little bit preppy and a little punk on: October 01, 2007 08:41:25 PM
so I finished another top today.. Im sorta loving houndstooth right now and I got this fabric on ebay.. I really wanted black and white but turns out ... its green!! Time to adjust to color on my monitor!! LOL

Anyhow.. its pretty sturdy thick Jersey knit.

eeew I just noticed Im totally showing off my double jointedness in my right hand on one of these pics.. LOL

Excuse my sleepyness/greasy hair.. Time to wash it. Tongue

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / omg Im finally done! yeayyyyyy!! on: September 15, 2007 01:53:05 PM
I did a few pieces for a trunk show Im doing, and I posed some of these before, and some of these pieces were..ahhemm.. a bit contraversial (like the walmart dress..lol)

So Im done and Im totally excited and thought yall deserved better pics than my death  pics that I was posting as I was going along..

hope you likey!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I see dead people... oh wait.. thats just my reflection.. (puff toppy topness) on: September 14, 2007 07:14:24 AM
So the sweatshop saga continues.. I did two more pieces for my show, where I have to have 6 pieces done. Im so tired, I could literally tip over.

This was was made from a shirt I had to save from a few weeks ago when my serger decided it was time to mess up its timing and chomp up a top I was working on. I was going to throw it out but I took a look at it and was like... noo this can be saved.

As many of you know I adore way overdone puffy sleeves, so this falls in line with that.

The red and blue fabric I inherited from the loverly Supayana when she moved to Canada- she gave me a HUGE garbage bag full of fabric. Yeay!

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Torture by Ruffle Foot Usage.. help on: September 13, 2007 08:53:33 AM
SO ive been so excited to finally get a ruffle foot.. and wow it is an intimidating contraption, I must say.

After getting a tutorial on how to put the damn thing on, It seems to all fit well, then...

I put the fabric under it and it shifts somehow.. and the needle SLAMS into the foot. I dont know wtf. I just know I broke 3 needles in one night trying to figure this out.

Any ideas as to whats going on?
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Foldover Collar+Yoke Top= <3 in top form on: September 13, 2007 06:48:50 AM
SO I have my very first trunk sale this weekend, and Im totally working like a sweatshop worker. Literally going to work all day, then coming home and sewing (on top of homework with my daughter, dinner, etc..)

I was just thinking when I made this top how about 1.5 years ago the BIGGEST pain for me was yoke tops. I think I posted on here many many times asking for help on these and venting my frustration. But craftster, as usual did not let me down. I practiced and practiced.. I remember my first one taking me HOURS lol.

This one only took me about 15 min.. the rest of the top ehhh.. lets just say it was a process.. took about 2 hours total. I love how it came out and thought I would share.

Its made from some fabric I got about 2 years ago on sale, and some gray jersey knit (I buy that stuff in bulk on ebay) and fabric covered buttons. I hope the shop its going to loves it.

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Walmart Fabric Dress (sorry everyone!) on: July 26, 2007 10:09:00 PM
I got this fabric at walmart last year with my mom in New Orleans.. the dress at first wasnt really going how I wanted.. but then I did some modifications and it came out pretty cool!

I think it may need some lace covered buttons.. so still waiting on button cover kit to do that.

Walmart is really evil, but ... sigh... cool cheap fabric
