1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Blood and guts... I'm in over my head. Help me, please! on: January 20, 2008 08:02:16 PM
I said I would make some props for a show I'm helping out with (Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged).
Okay so I need to make a pie with a head sticking out of it (for Titus Andronicus parody) I have the pie, it's fabric in a 9" pie tin<- charming by the way.
I need to find a material to make the "head" out of. I was thinking maybe a wig model, but perhaps it will be too big...? and where does one find a styrofoam head??

Also I need to make three things that go over people's hands to make it look like their hands have been chopped off. (Also Titus Andronicus. Happy little Play.) Yeah...

If anyone can help... I would be extremely appreciative. The sooner the better, the show is on Friday.
(tsk tsk, procrastinators...)
2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / chicken korma?! on: December 17, 2006 04:37:44 PM
i went to edinburgh this summer and got absolutley hooked on chicken korma from this cute little indian takeout place (i ate it almost every day, indian food is addictive).
since i came back to the us, i have been trying and trying to make a decent korma, remaining somewhat unsuccessful.
after my most recent attempt, i am somewhat frustrated, my question is,
does anyone know of a somewhat decent, spicy korma recipe?

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / tux purse on: March 27, 2006 10:05:07 AM
so i had my old orchestra uniform sitting around the house. it consisted of a tie, a cumberbund and a white shirt. (yes they actually made us wear all that crap). im a purse obsessionist so i made this. the "jacket" is just some black fabric i had from a skirt.

(oh and i know it's super dirty, i am far too lazy to wash it right now.... it was clean when i made it, after two weeks of use this is what it's become.)

excuse how frumpy i look, i'm on spring break and putting on makeup/curling my hair/wearing nice clothes does NOT appeal to me.

that is all.
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / teapot... on: February 06, 2006 10:31:11 AM
i'm somewhat stuck on what to do with this.
i made it last year in ceramics, but i didnt have time to fire or glaze it (we were expected to do two peices a week, i fell behind...)

i brought it home last week and fired it and this is what it looks like now. it's my first peice and it's already fired. i know it has imperfections, it's lopsided etc etc but i want to hang on to my first peice.
so what color does it need to become? i'm stuck. i was thinking black but that doesn't seem right. pastels seem odd too... any suggestions??
i'm a student and i'm paying my way to scotland so i have almost no money to speak of, so the super expensive glazes are somewhat out of the question.
it's highfire clay (i think maybe cone 7 or 8...?)
5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / crazy huge boots on: January 22, 2006 06:00:58 PM
hopefully im posting this in the right area. my apologies if im not.

well, i am a thriftstore junkie and sometimes i cant help but buy the most useless, crazy and sometimes ugly things. yesterday when looking at shoes i found these...

they are huge, ugly and in my opinion, fantastic.
the problem is there is a huge black scuff mark on them and i cant get  it off. i havent the heart to cut them up and distort them but i doubt i can find red paint to match. any ideas for what i can do with them? i would still love to wear them. if it helps, they are red pleather.
thanks for reading!
