1  Re: July 15 Fiber Friday in Spinning: Completed Projects by missmuppy on: July 15, 2011 06:20:42 PM
Yay! I haven't been spinning as much as I'd like. I'd go into the list of excuse/reasons, but it's too boring and lame and I'd rather not relive it. But it's nice to see so many pretty yarns!!! Lovely lovely lovely.

Here's 2 I did this week.
This first one is just different colors of merino...

and then this one is spun from a batt I carded out of some alpaca, merino, bamboo and sparkle...

There were a couple other batts I carded and then spun up, but i've knitted them into pieces for my bike cozy. Smiley

A couple of pair of mitts. The first with some fiber I purchased at Country Yarns in Snohomish, WA...

...which I spun into this mess of lovely...

...and then knit into these mitts which were gifted to a friend at work...

She was very happy.

Next up is some yarn I spun from a varied assortment of Phat Fiber samples. This was my VERY FIRST NAVAJO PLY. Yay! It was quite the bitch. It kept breaking and falling apart, but I actually liked how the yarn turned out....
...I made these weirdo mitts for myself...

...and I totally love them. Smiley

3  Re: Fiber Friday March 4 2011! in Spinning: Completed Projects by missmuppy on: March 04, 2011 08:39:12 PM
Finally, I'm actually posting while it's still Friday!! I am loving what I see so far, but am too exhausted at the moment to really post coherent compliments, so I shall return tomorrow to do that. (Hopefully there will be some more up by then too!) Smiley

I only have a couple of offerings today. Next week I should have more because I am going to spinning class tomorrow to learn how to Navajo ply! (and whatever else Barbara wants to teach us!)

This first is a 50/50 mix of merino and silk that I purchased at Country Yarns in Snohomish, WA. It's by Jewel Fiber design. It's 150 yards of worsted-ish. Maybe light worsted....I dunno.

This next is made from some Merino that I dyed with blue Koolaid! This was part of my first dyeing attempt, but I managed to felt it pretty good. I currently am lucky enough to have a borrowed drum carder in my possession, so I ran it through there with a bit of bamboo, wensleydale locks, and some sparkle. I'm pretty happy with the result...

It's really hard to get the sparkle in pictures!

Oh my...I'm really late! I hope you don't mind. It's my weekend to work so my whole week was all thrown off, but I did spin a couple of skeins.

But first the love....

volomortuus: that is the best yarn EVER! I love love love it.
jets to july: that is absolutely gorgeous and I hope you'll be posting the hat you make!
hippie: what can I say? You're going to get a big head if I compliment you any more. Smiley Smiley I really really love Aphotic and your unnamed one.
oddacity: you have a very lucky friend!
jexx: so freaking amazing! And I love the fiber heart.
Ospreywife: I love the color and the bulkiness
nikschaf: LOVELY! I want to squish it!

These are both fiber purchases from "Spin Stitch Sew."

The first is 105 yards of Wendsleydale. Unnamed at the moment...

And the second is 120 yards of BFL I like to call "Aquarium"...

I think they are both probably worsted.

And here's a pic of the other fiber nut in my house. Smiley

Belladune, I love your super girly yarn!

Laughing Lark, you are a yarn making machine! I really love the Foggy Purple and Signs of Spring!

Angry Hippie, if you ever posted a yarn I didn't like...I'd be shocked! As usual, beautiful pictures of your BEAUTIFUL yarn!!

Jexx, I like your Mish Mash. You've inspired me to experiment with some odds and ends that have been neglected for too long.

Nesse, your work is lovely and I really really like Woah-oh and Tree Nymph

I know it's late, but I wasn't able to post yesterday. This stuff was done prior to Friday, I promise!! Oh, and I've been experimenting with taking better pictures.

These first 2 are done with fibers I got from KnittyAndColor. This first one I posted as singles last week and now it is plied into this...

Pocket Rock

Here's the other KnittyAndColor fiber, I think this is BFL...

And here's from some Merino that was hand painted by me...

Mermaid Hair

They are all decent yardage, which I have written down somewhere, and all worsted weight.

I got pictures of my finished doggy sweater!

First, here is the fiber. I've posted this picture before, but not for this particular project. It's the pink one on the left...

This is the bulky yarn I spun it into...

And the final product...

The recipient and her mommy were pleased!

Untouchable- your yarns are absolutely beautiful. I especially love Jewel and PPE. I must try this Navajo ply thing I keep hearing about.

Jexx- I really love your 2 versions of the Merino fiber! And your core spun looks super squishtastic!

Hippie-you are my hero. You make me want to learn this core spinning.

Really, you guys are inspiring me to spin more. Although, I didn't get much done this week because I have been sick. Sad But today I felt a bit better and spun this up from some handpainted Falkland from KnittyandColor. It's not done yet because I want to ply it.

Beautiful scarflette Jexxican!

Bella--can't wait to see your legwarmers!

I have another item to add. Nothing fancy...just a ribbed hat.

First, here are the fiber bits. There is mohair, BFL, Wensleydale locks, and Angora...

...which were then carded into these batts...

...spun up into this yarn...

...and then made into this super soft and super warm hat...

I am almost done with another project...a tiny dog sweater!

I have an Ashford Kiwi wheel and I oil it all the time!

Puppy--I have tried spinning with hemp before...and also didn't like it. Didn't much like the finished product either but at least it was a learning experience!

AngryHippie--your yarns are so pretty pretty pretty. How long have you been spinning.

Jungrrl your yarns look super squishy soft! Very nice!

Antsy--I love the colors!

Here is yarn I spun from some superwash merino fiber I dyed myself! My friend and I had a dying day at another friend's house. The other friend happens to be the person who taught us to spin too! It ended up being about 225 yards of DK. I love love love it. Here's pics of the fiber and then the yarn.

It's so inspiring to see everyone's work here. Thanks for sharing!!!

10  Final Fiber Friday of 2010 - December 31st in Spinning: Completed Projects by missmuppy on: December 31, 2010 05:44:28 PM
It's my first time starting one, but I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. These are 2 of my first hand dying attempts that I spun up this week, both in superwash merino.

This first one is about 130 yards of worsted:

The next are both from the same batch, one of about 50 yards of bulky and the other about 45 yards of sport weight:

I meant to do the whole thing as the bulky 2 ply, but kind of miscalculated when I split it up. I kind of like seeing it as both a single and a two ply though.

Woo hoo!
