1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Crop challenge LO on: January 27, 2008 08:54:26 AM
I've just started going to a crop (scrapbooking club).  There is a challenge each time, and this is the layout i made for the last one.  It's based on my favourite things.

We had to include:
red and green
a hidden photo
a song lyric in the title
ourselves as the main subject
and a technique we hadn't tried before.

I was really pleased with how this one came out (the colours are very washed out in this first pic though).

Here's the hidden photo and journalling

the title is my favourite part

hope you like it!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / display about recycling in kindergarten? on: May 07, 2007 04:27:23 AM
i teach four-year old kids, and we've decided that they need to know about recycling - they seem to generate soooo much rubbish!

i have volunteered to make a display to draw their attention to the recycling bins, BUT i don't feel comfortable doing the usual trawl through the stationery cupboard for coloured paper etc.

So does anyone have any ideas for appealing themes, ways to make lettering, pictures (2D or 3D) that will capture their imaginations and only used recycled/sustainable material?

3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / guinea pig in inks on: March 18, 2007 07:48:49 AM
My fiance just finished this.  It's his first attempt in 20 years!  And he says he isn't crafty...

hope you like it!
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / The Craftster Guide to Nifty, Thrifty, and Kitschy Crafts / Sweater teapot cozy on: December 03, 2006 11:05:46 AM
So, i made the tea cosy from Leah's book for my parents in law, and they love it!

Sadly, their motto is probably 'no teacozies with irony', so i modified the cute applique to one of their local church!

action shot

thanks Leah!  It was so fun to make and the instructions were super-easy to follow, even for an eternal-beginner at sewing like me...

(runs off to make all the rest of the stuff in the book)
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Retro chairs to...um, retro chairs on: November 17, 2006 03:57:26 AM
So my boyfriend came by these cool chairs years ago.  I love the shape, but i hate hate hated the fabric.  Brown and orange seventies check?  Retro, but not in a good way!

So i got reaaaallly brave (i'm not good with fabric) and recovered.  Hooray!
Here's the before and after

Pink gingham - retro chairs in (i think) a good way!
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Winter Wonderland Birthday Party on: November 05, 2006 01:55:07 PM
So, i'd like to have a winter wonderland themed birthday party for my fiance, but because his birthday is in December, it's always overshadowed by Christmas.  So i need some inspiration for non-Christmassy winter decorations.

Also, i'd like to have only white food, or food from cold climates.  Any suggestions?  I can think of lots of white desserts, but what about savouries?

Any help much appreciated!
7  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Can't walk upstairs......because my shoes are falling off! on: October 04, 2006 12:56:21 PM
My favourite shoes are getting larger and larger with wearing them so much - it's got to the stage where i can only wear them if im on the flat.

i don't know what you'd call them - they're like a flat pump, in leather.

could i add an elastic strap across the foot?  if so, how?

thanks guys!
8  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 9 ENTRIES / Kokeshi Kate - first project! on: February 03, 2006 01:18:56 PM
This is me in Kokeshi doll form.  She's two-sided cause i started her at the same time as my New Year's diet.
One side of her looks longingly at my fave (Sculpey) foods

the other is smiling at a big plate of greens!

Her kimono prints are made to match.  My wood turning's not up to much so she's a polystyrene egg with the bottom cut off.

;)i lost 13 pounds since i started her - so maybe i should start shaving bits off!
