1  ~ Steel Boned Polka Dot Underbust Corset ~ in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by sillysausage on: May 04, 2007 02:09:12 PM

Made my big sister (she's on here as intergalacticjo) an underbust corset a wee while ago.  I am her sewing slave.

here it is

the outer part in the making

It's guts

Jo's pillow modeling the finished corset lol

I made it by taking apart an old corset that fitted well but had icky fabric and makeing a pattern out of that please dont ask me how i honesly dont no how i managed it.

It looks loads better on but jo wouldnt let me take a pic of her in it coz it makes her doos look massive(er) and funnily high up.

Anyway there it is and I'm never ever makeing another sodding corset with out a pattern it nearly killed me.

7  Queen of Hearts - Vintage Butterick Walk Away Dress 1952 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by sillysausage on: May 21, 2006 06:45:53 AM

This is the first time I've made a dress and used a pattern. thank god it was really easy Cheesy

I used Butterick pattern B4790
I made the skirt part half circle instead of full circle since I didnt want it to be too wooshy .
The front wraps right around and buttons at the back then the back wraps around and buttons at the front.

here's the dress (no I'm not on a hill my mum was just trying to be artistic  Roll Eyes )

here's the side veiw

close up of the heart buttons  Smiley

I made a practice one out of a bedsheet first then tryed to dye it black but it didnt work so I gave it to my boyfriend to play with.
I think he likes it  Cheesy

nick in a frock

for mine I'm going to make a red flower pin or something to make it a bit more exciting i think.

If I get a chance I might make one to list on my etsy shop  but i think I'll practice again first though, but i just want to make like 10  there so fun  Grin

8  Celia Birtwell Little Rock Dress - free pattern -a-like in Designer Clothing Homage by sillysausage on: May 13, 2006 04:38:48 PM

i love the Celia Birtwell Little Rock Dress from topshop but it sold out online in just a few minutes aaaaarrrgghh and now the only way to get it is blooming ebay for 200 when it only cost 45

i found a free patten by accident from burda Cheesy the only changes i have to make is use contrasting fabric around the edges which shoud be easy squeezy and make it button down at the front

(take away frill, flowery fabric and scarf)

can someone please help me find some seethroughish fabric similar to the original dress Huh i'm in scotland and there is only one ittybitty fabric shop in the next town and it is rubbish so any online ones would be great i've googled it but cant seem to find many
