1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / I got a craft tattoo!! on: March 05, 2013 10:19:52 PM

I am so excited about this but wasn't sure what board to post it in, so I hope this is alright?

I finally got my first tattoo, and of course it's craft related! I came up with the idea and found a wonderful artist who created something so much better than I had imagined. I am so excited about it! Ahhh!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Fun skirts with crazy patterns! They're so much fun! on: February 19, 2013 01:29:10 PM
I've really started to enjoy creating these plus size skirts. I've made myself at least 20 in the last 6 months. They're so much fun, and I'm always getting compliments on them. It's nice to be able to wear something different, since all of us plus size ladies know how difficult it is to find unique clothing. Here are a few skirts that I'm quite proud of!

That is my "Camping Hunks" skirt! It makes me giggle every time I look at it!

That's my Outer Space skirt. I LOVE the colors on this one! I nearly flipped when I found the fabric!

Femme power! I found this awesome women superhero fabric and knew it had to be a skirt!

Marvel Comics skirt!

This Star Trek one was worn to a convention on Sunday and was commented on my celebrities! Totally made my week!

Thanks so much for the compliments, everyone! The waistbands are elastic.  Wink

My belts mostly came from Torrid or Ross. I'm having a hard time finding them now, though. They were really "in style" last year, so they were easy to find, but now I rarely find any.  Sad

I've known how to sew for years, now.... but clothing is something I haven't really ventured into. That was until I found some really cool fabric a few months ago and decided to make myself a skirt out of it. I got so many compliments on it, that I've gone skirt-making crazy! Here are a few of my favorites so far! =)

I'll start with my favorite.  Grin

My Outer Space skirt!

I LOVED this flamingo print! It's so bright and colorful. =D

Skull & Roses. I really love this print.

I call this my "Crazy cat lady" skirt.

It can be so difficult finding unique prints for plus sizes, so I really enjoy making these skirts. Other plus size women are always asking me where I got them from. I'm planning on taking a sewing course at the college next year so I can move onto dresses and other, more complicated, clothing items.  Cheesy

Very cute!  Do you know what kind of pug mix Mr. Wiggles is?  He looks a lot like my Hattie, who is a pug-jack russell.  Good luck with the business!
We've always wondered what he was mixed with. They rescued him from a shelter. My guess what actually jack-russel but I've never seen a photo of the mix before, so I was never certain.

I've made several other posts about dog collars I make for my English Bulldog, Betty Buttons. I'm always making her new collars and I've gotten requests from family and friends to make collars for their pets, as well. It's actually turned into a passion of mine and I've decided to turn it into a business. I've recently been working on bows and bowties for the collars. I think I've finally found a look that I'm quite happy with and I thought I'd share.  Smiley

This is my boyfriend's pug-mix, Mr. Wiggles, modelling collars for me! He's such a cutie!

And here's Betty.

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Skirt made from a fantastically awesome Goosebumps bed sheet on: September 02, 2011 04:25:31 PM
Several years ago my Mom and I went to a thrift store in Alabama while I was visiting my grandparents and I stumbled upon this Goosebumps bed sheet in practically new condition. Even though I wasn't too great at sewing at the time, I had to have it because it was in such great condition and it reminded me of my childhood. I LOVED Goosebumps! I ended up putting it in my fabric stash and it sat there for years.... until a few days ago when I finally decided to turn it into a skirt.  Wink

I didn't use a pattern.... I just winged it. It's fully lined with a black bedsheet (which I didn't get a picture of... but I'm really proud of how well it turned out on the inside!). I used 2 inch elastic and I gathered the hell out of the fabric... which has actually made the skirt quite poofy. The poof of it isn't illustrated in the photos, but it's pretty darn poofy! Oh well, though!

All in all, this skirt cost me about $10.  Grin

I think I'm going to have to start making more skirts.  Grin
