1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: 2008 Completed Costumes Scrapbook! (completed project pictures & links go here!) on: February 22, 2009 06:36:41 PM
My boyfriend was insistent on being a sith from Star Wars (he had the double-ended lightsaber, so he just HAD to). I love the idea of being couples for Halloween, so I was Leia!

I know, I know, the hood is missing! I only had a few hours after work for 4 days, all the while keeping my godchildren at bay and yelling at my 25 year old sewing machine!

And the belt wasn't quite right, I bought it right before the party we went to, but it'll have to do. Sorry about the karaoke screen covering me up!

I bought the boots off ebay, and it's as close as I could get for Leia boots... You only see them breifly maybe 3 times throughout the whole series...

Oh! and here's the pattern I altered to make the thing in the first place.
(McCall's M5746)
I had to completely modify the collar, and turned the pencil style into an a-line with a slit on both sides, and make sleeves, so I guess I just used the pattern as a rough draft.

As for the hair- I bought a cheapie wig at wal-mart and elastic'ed it into pigtails and cut them off (the remaining piece of wig was a hit at the party for my friend's drunk character "buzz"!!!), and hooked them into my hair. I figured styling a partial wig style would be way easier and more comfortable than wearing an entire brown wig.

I'm sure I'll be making my next costume, I've never worn a pre-made costume before, and I don't plan on it!!!

beautiful, I love when opposite ends of the spectrum meet in the middle. With the earthy scene and the structured garment, it's perfect! Good job!

I would only be concerned about being able to walk or sit. Otherwise super sexy!

I wish my job wasn't so hands-on, otherwise I would try that RIGHT NOW. Nail polish doesn't last 20 minutes when scrubbing and dremeling stuff.

Super neat, I've caught the mineral makeup bug as well, but it's so expensive to buy ALL the colors I want... I think I'll be doing some projects here soon!

I think I'm going to make some of these for door prizes for an upcoming baby shower!!!
