82  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Those tins you get pencils in? on: March 04, 2007 11:41:25 AM
Any idea what I could use those for? I've ended up with about ten of them over the years as a result of all my pencil-ly exploits and I'd love to find a nice use for them, I can't be the only person in need of some ideas for them. They are too flat to hold much in (apart from pencils really) or to do some of the things done with altoid tins.

many thanks in advance  Wink

(P.S incase you're not sure what type of tin I'm talking about, it's this type of thing: http://www.artycat.com/acatalog/DerwentGraphicTech12.jpg, http://www.pencilrevolution.com/uploads/mcclure3.jpg)

84  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / GCSE art exam piece, tree thing. on: May 31, 2006 01:03:56 PM
My art GCSE isn't over yet so I'm not sure if I can even put these pictures up...I probably can *shrugs* this is my final peice for the exam topic we had to do nearer the start of this year. The final piece of each topic is meant to demonstrate ideas you explored throughout the project so...um yeah...I thought I'd post this here because i've had an account here for ages and never posted, mosly I just lurk and scoop up ideas. (this particular project/exam thing was about plants if memory serves).

Also, I thought it would be sweet to show this to you guys because a few ideas came from here, like the flower seed beady threading thing and the cross stitch, I'd never really done any cross stitch before but off I went to the sweing shop in my village and tried to buy some stitchy background stuff (I am so clueless, sorry!) but the guy there just laughed at me for not having a clue what it was called or what size I wanted...yeah, I'm a bit pathetic. But it was kinda fun stitching this stuff, especially in an exam where you have such limited time and can't really stitch to save your life. So yeah, bits like that are in it just as a sort of tie in with techniques and not for any marks for 'skill'.

But enough of my pathetic babbling!...pictures...  Undecided

The whole thing
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/catherine_lalala/100_0073.jpg Close up of some cross-stitching and seed beads on acryllic thread (I found a way on here to stitch them daisy stylee!
Here we have a load of random junk in the 'branches'. watercolours, quink ink (I love that stuff) and leaves made from dipping wire in some kind of special 'fantasy film' gloop.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/catherine_lalala/100_0076.jpg[/img]yet more tree stuff, that big leaf is from a design of william morris' I think... Embarrassed
Some wool 'grass' and yet more quink ink plants.

Some notes
*The whole thing is on a very think sheet of card I found on the floor of my art room ten minutes before the exam, nearly eveyone else had brought in canvasses and stuff and I was sitting there with my (A3 sized) sheet of card, which I think I preferred, Canvas would be like saying "hey man! I like my art!" which is just...so not me.
*the wire leaves are attatched by me poking holes in the card and threading them through and securing them with hot glue.
*i'm not sure why I made the tree blue, but its covered in PVA to make it SHINEH!
*My pictures arent a very good example but for those who dont know, Quink ink is basically an ink that runs when it comes into contact with water, like watercolours, but...ink *shrug*
*I don't like it either, well...actually I do...or do I? I'm kind of like this with all my "art" maybe if someone else had done it I'd like it *nods*

Um, yeah I done now. Sorry to take up your time   Undecided you can carry on looking at the other threads now Smiley
