3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Doily Re-Do!!! on: July 28, 2008 08:42:08 AM
that doily is BEAUTIFUL> you did a GREAT job. keep up the good work. post more pics.  love the color of the doily too. more people are starting to use doilies again. i really like making doilies myself.
i'm glad you didn't give up on the "challenge" of that big of a project. i tried to teach my 31 yr old daughter to crochet several times during her childhood. NO LUCK> maybe someday she will pick it up. ... but she does do other types of crafts...thank goodness....at least some of my "genes" got passed down to a child. LOL

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Crocheting on the right side help on: June 24, 2008 05:43:46 PM
ok, i think i understand what you are saying about wrong side, right side....and
YES (just like knitting) there is definitely a wrong side and right side to
crocheting. let me see IF i can explain it... when you do your chain, then you do
your sc's in the ch....that row is the RIGHT side. when you turn at the end
of that row, and do the second row of sc's.../your previous row looking at it..you
SEE it's WRONG side. when you crocheting in rows....back & forth ...there really
isn't  a wrong or right side i guess. but if you do a circle or something that
goes in rounds..there is definitely a WronG AND RIGHT SIDE.   hope i haven't
confused you more.

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: beginner doily pattern? on: June 24, 2008 05:26:20 PM
I hope this link works.
this is a pattern i love to use for  a quick simple doily.
it says placemat, but i use size 10 thread and my size 6 steel
hook. i doesn't have a "million" rows either.LOL any of m20 something
and i start to panic. LOL hope you like it.

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: A hex skirt from a vintage blanket imag heavy on: February 29, 2008 01:18:21 PM
I have to say whatever you paid at the thrift shop had to be worth it. all that UNUSED thread plus the finished hexes. and i must say that you are ONE talented person wo have done what you did with the pieces. 2 thumbs up for sure.
p.s. sure wish i could find something like that. all i find is SMELLY old nasty yarn..no vintage thread or hooks. still look though, b/c you JUST never know!!!LOL

OM goodness, those are some beautiful pieces you made out of something that someone else might not have appreciated. great job. love the color accents on the child tops.
Huh though, all that unused thread in the pic, did you find that at the thrift shop too?

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Card from Felted Sweater on: February 25, 2008 06:42:13 AM
just a note to let you know....if the sweater was wool and it shrank....next time it happens....you could try soaking it in some luke warm water with CHEAP shampoo. i did that yrs ago with a sweater of my daughter and it stretched right back.. but glad to see you making good use of the sweater now.
