1  COOKING / Dessert / CupCake Recipe on: January 17, 2006 08:42:12 PM
I am looking for a vanilla cup cake recipe.

I want something that will be light and fluffy:) Also...these are for my boyfriend, so his mom will end up having some. And since she always ask how much fat there are in my baked goods, a low fat recipe would be great too.

So any suggestions.

Or even just a good baking book/site?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / VHS Cluth or Pencil Holder or Whatever! (pics!) on: January 14, 2006 05:46:05 PM
I was orginially thinking this would be a clutch purse. Which it still could be...if I used it as that, I would add small handles somehow.  But, it is sitting on my desk and I think it would make a nice pencil holder or something!

*I appologize for the crappy fabric work. my sewing machine is broken so I hot glued it all Tongue

Those are the cards on the inside.

It is kinda sloppy. But meh. I might do another nicer one!

What do you all think?
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Cutting Records. How? on: January 12, 2006 06:56:03 PM
I am trying to cut the center out of a vylon record.

Exacto knife...no.
Wood Burner...don't have.
Saudering Iron...don't have.

My dad suggested using one of those cicular drill attachments (the things they use to put door knob holes in) but then I would have to buy that.

So before I go spend money, does anyone have any other suggestions? I want the center circle out (where the lable is)
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Feedback on these wallets? on: January 10, 2006 06:04:57 PM

*This second one I used thicker material (the blue) it was really hard to get my machine to go through it layered!

Feedback please? Better with out without stencils? Colour choices? Buttons look ok? And the button straps? (I have a hard time with those). How can I make them look better?

And I follwed the wallet tut on here somewhere. The 'How to make super cute wallets' or something.
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Knitting Needle Bags? Tut? on: January 10, 2006 12:39:57 AM
I cannot find one...

Is there a tut for making bag/cases for knitting needles and the such? (You know...the roll up and tie)
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Michael's Craft Store on: January 09, 2006 04:18:36 PM
I was wondering if anyone knew if the Canadian Michael's Craft Stores buy crafts from people to sell?

I know they are mainly a supply store, but they do offer holiday things and whatnot.

I have a some sort of relative (she knows my mom) who works at one, and figured she could be my step in the door.

So yes. Do they do they not sell items average joes have made?
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / What Are These, What Can I Do With Them? on: January 07, 2006 08:41:54 PM
What are they and what can I do with them??

They are plastic. I found them with a bunch of buttons. A flat side..and a side with a lip, then a rectangle hole.

I feel like there should be another part to them.

Anyone know what they are called? How I can use them? Undecided
8  CANADA / Ontario / Where do you shop for craft supplies and fabric in KW? on: January 06, 2006 07:44:20 PM
People from the Kitchener-Waterloo area, where do you buy your craft supplies and fabric?

I tend to go to Lens Mills in Hawksville. Or the thrift store in Elmira (I live north of Waterloo so those are close for me)

I go to Michaels sometimes, but they are expensive. And Lens is the cheapest place for fabric I have found, apart from ripping up used clothing.

Share where you go!
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / How Can I Fix This? on: January 06, 2006 06:46:09 PM
 >:(I had stupid moment.

I have covered an old album in some funky fabric. That went fine. I am going to be keeping an album of everything I make and whatnot.

Sooo I stencilled Sarah's Album on the front. (stencilling around the letters so it is a messy edge if that makes sense...the letters are empty, the paint is around them)

Well, I did Sarah in Blue. And album in yellow. After I was done, I realized picking yellow was stupid because that part of the fabric is yellow...so you can't really see it. SO I tried to put a bit of blue on it, and some yellow on Sarah. But it is still hard to see.

I don't have the stencil on it anymore and it was a one time use stencil. How can I fix this without stenciling again?  Huh
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Record Bowl and Coffee Filter Flower on: January 04, 2006 11:58:17 AM

Sorry it is big. I put it together for a friend to look at so she could make some.
I am not very happy with the shape of the bowl, but it is ok for my first one I guess. The lables are Skid Row-Forever and Misfits -This Magic Moment. I am giving it to my boyfriend. And those are our songs.  Kiss

And I made some Coffee filter flowers. I will be making more of them today.

What do you all think?
