1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Breakfast at Tiffany's stitch marker love! on: August 26, 2008 11:16:00 AM
hey thanks!  while i was watching it i was thinking, why don't i do this more often!  it's one of my all-time favorite craft inspiration movies!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Kerri Russell in Amy Butler on: August 25, 2008 11:01:08 AM
Hey 'yall!  i saw Kerri Russell wearing this bag a while ago, and just saw it again today... which reminded me that i was in love with this style back then, and am still longing for it!  i see that it has a leather strap- almost like a leather belt was used to make the strap.  I don't know what kind of pattern to use for this, and i definitely don't think my sewing machine will stand up to sewing leather on top of interfacing on top of fabric!!

i was thinking of just using the Amy Butler Birdie Sling pattern with this fabric, but i just don't know... Do any of you have some ideas, or if you've seen anyone attempt this bag?

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Super Dog, lots o pics on: August 24, 2008 09:49:41 AM
i love him! it looks like he's actually enjoying wearing it, too!  you get 2 gold stars- one for your knitting, and one for having a super cool dog that wears what his momma knits!!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Breakfast at Tiffany's stitch marker love! on: August 24, 2008 07:32:53 AM
i posted this over at the polymer clay board, but i thought it would be a disservice to my knitting group if i did not post it up here, too!

i made these little charms while i was searching for enough stitch markers to knit my Clapotis.  Now that i'm in the decrease section, i've dropped enough stitches and markers to showcase these babies here!  i made them out of Fimo, and in 30 minutes they were out of the toaster oven and on the needles!  You can see from the picture that we have:  Holly Golightly's eye mask, Paul Varjack's "9 Lives", a Tiffany's Box, Croissant, and Holly's black hat with silk scarf!  très distingué!

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / i'm just CRAZY about Tiffany's stitch markers! on: August 24, 2008 07:22:08 AM
i sat down to make stitch markers this week, and this is the result of what happens if you craft while watching your favorite movie!!  ...Breakfast at Tiffany's stitch markers!!  i made them out of Fimo! Here you have Holly Golightly's sleep mask, a croissant, Paul Varjack's "9 Lives", a Tiffany's box, and lastly, the pièce de résistance, her black hat with silk scarf!

I'm always top banana in the shock department!
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: i <3 to sew r2 gallery on: August 21, 2008 08:12:34 AM
oh yes!  and if any of you have cats, you know they pretty much rule the roost.  they are like little kids at a party- always willing to "help" you open packages, and are the first to notice something new!  (ie: a brand new apron laid out on the floor for a photo op).  And Aspenwall- i should've taken a picture of this, but last night when i laid everything out on the floor to oogle at again, Miss Kitty fell asleep on my tote bag.  i left it there last night so that she wouldn't be disturbed!!

time to brag. about my awesome swap partner, Aspenwall.  i don't know how she did it, maybe she has ESP, but she read my sewing mind.  not only is her sewing impeccable, her attention to detail amazing, but she picked out some really sweet amy butler fabrics for me!!!!!!!!!!  i was definitely spoiled by her generosity!  THANK YOU! LUV YOU!!!!  so now you can all share in the eye candy...

oooooo here it is- i have barely even begun to tear into this package and i am in love already...

Miss Kitty in front of my brand new bag!  i LOVE IT! i love the flowers! i love the lining! i love the contrasting straps!

Fun and patterned ribbon!!  and hand-made cording/piping!  i've never used this before, never even knew about it before this swap, and i'm so excited to add this to my sewing repertoire!

and here are oodles and oodles of yummy amy butler fabrics!  i already know what i'm going to do with them- i am going to sew them up into little birds to make this awesome mobile: http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/ love it!  and the amy butler birdie sling pattern? well i think that goes without saying- BRAND NEW BAG!

now, lastly we have my camera hog of a cat, miss kitty, again, posing with my brand new reversible AMY BUTLER apron!  i don't know how my glorious partner, Aspenwall did this, but i love it- it's exactly what i would have made for myself!  it's scary how perfect my swap partner is...

thanks again, Aspenwall!! you RULE!!!

i AM!   Grin

i arrived home from work last night to find a beautifully wrapped package waiting for me from the lovely Aspenwall!  i promptly tore it open and was in awe with the wonderfulness inside!  i would love to show you all what i found in there, but i will be keeping all of you in great suspense...  i was out knitting with my SnB, so i'll be taking pics of the glorious loot tonight for your viewing pleasure.  i'll give you one clue to tide you over:  Amy freaking Butler.   Cheesy
