11  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Pointy cupcake? on: March 23, 2006 09:55:39 PM
I made a pointy kitty: http://weewonderfuls.typepad.com/wee_wonderfuls/store/pointykitty.html

EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!  Sooooo cute!

But wait, what's cuter than a kitty, sweeter than a kitty even?

So I present you with a pointy kitty cupcake.  She looks a bit confused, but that's only natural, as she is a very rare strawberry flavoured cupcake with chocolate icing and sprinkles.  Damn I'm hungry.

She's checking out the competition on craftster...

12  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / DORMANT: Tubey crochetalong on: March 22, 2006 11:42:06 AM
Knitted Tubey can be seen here: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTtubey.htm

I think we can do the same in the world of hookers.  We have this pattern http://www.crochet-clothes.com/104Free.html (MOD NOTE: 404-no longer active link) to look at the shaping for the tube-top part, and then the sleeves are just a crocheted tube big enough for your arms.  We could even do a short-sleeved version by making a crocheted one skein wonder shrug like so : https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=35101.0, only with hdc instead of the lovers knot stitch.

So.... is anyone with me?  I'm gonna be going through my stash this morning to find some colours that don't clash hideously....
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Noro la la la, NORO!!!!! (link fixed) on: March 18, 2006 11:45:24 PM
I just bought 4 skeins of Noro Big Kureyon #12 LOOK:

I want to make this: http://www.crochetme.com/stash-buster-cardigan-vest but all in the Kureyon and slightly bigger.  Then I'll felt it to my size and wear it constantly.  The only thing is, i want sleeves... puff sleeves.  Can I do this?  HOW would I do this?  I have 706 yards of Noro, is that enough for 3/4 length puff sleeves?

Did I just pay 55$ for 4 skeins of beautiful yarn that's only going to sit around?
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What takes more yarn? on: March 17, 2006 08:36:54 AM
Knitting or crocheting?

With corresponding needle and hook size, would a swatch of knitting use less yarn than a same-sized swatch of crochet?  I've been wondering about this for a while, and would have tried it myself, but my hook and needle sizes are all over the map.

Can someone put this one to rest for me?
15  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Has anyone ever crocheted a Tubey? on: March 17, 2006 08:33:24 AM
Knitted Tubey can be seen here: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTtubey.html

But all it is is two tubes sewn together.  And tubes are super easy to crochet....

Would this not be the easiest sweater EVER to crochet, or am I crazy?
16  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Owlie pilow! on: March 15, 2006 08:51:29 PM
There seems to be a lot of owlie goodness on craftster these days, and I've decided to add to it.

I made this pillow for a personal swap I'm doing.  It's crocheted with a handpainted/stenciled owlie applique on it.  The pillow is hand-sewn (UGH!!!) and the back fabric is yellowy with browny leaves, but very subtle.

I hope you like it!

17  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / I hooked a hood! on: March 15, 2006 08:42:55 PM
Heavily inspired by this post: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=66542.0 I made myself a pixie hood.  The yarn I used doesn't make for a very structural hood, but it's very soft and I love it.

It's my biggest FO and I actually followed a pattern!!!! (sort of)

another view:

Everyone should make a hood, as you can't help but look like an adorable pixie in it!
18  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Treat bags! For an almost 25 yr old, ME!!! on: February 09, 2006 07:51:39 PM
It's my birfday on the 16th and I'm having some people over before we go out and get crunk.  I'm baking a cake (with my Mum's help of course) and having appetizers.  I also want to make treat bags, as I haven't been to a party with those in years.  I want them to be small and portable though, as people will need to take them with them when we go to the bar.

I was thinking of making 3 marble magnets each (one with the amazingly relevant Sex And The City quote " Twenty-five??!?! Fuck I'm old!!!") and maybe some wierd little chinese candies in a small felt bag.  Any other gender-neutral fast and cheap stuff I can make or include in the treat bags?

Thanks bunches!
19  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Minimal sewing ideas? on: February 05, 2006 09:38:00 PM
I have no sewing machine (I can hand sew well, though), yet I want to revamp some clothes. Basically I have tomorrow off and I want to make something.  I love instant gratification!

Any ideas you crafty people you?
20  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / My first bracelet (CAUTION: very cute!) on: January 25, 2006 10:28:37 PM
Well, not that cute, but I had to make a snappy subject line.

I basically just made a charm style bracelet with glass beads in pretty blues.  The base is a double length of chain and I actually finished the thing in about 3 hours.  I like it.

And of course, the lame action shot:
