21  Re: Frugal Living 4: Frugal is the NEW BLACK! Gallery in The Swap Gallery by littlehajerika on: May 04, 2011 01:48:23 PM
Here are the things I made for bookstorebabe. She said it would take her a few days to post and I couldn't wait!

Blue and Green Striped Apron that I was thinking she could use in her new garden but she could also use it as a crafting apron. It has LOTS of pockets.

3 All-in-one Cloth Pads. These are the first ones I made with my new serger and they turned out pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty good. It's hard to serge on a curve especially when sewing PUL

And washable cotton tea bags with beads to keep them from falling in the cup.

Can't wait to see what she sent!

22  Re: Craft with a Fat Quarter Swap Gallery (SO 4/18/11) in The Swap Gallery by littlehajerika on: April 22, 2011 03:26:48 PM
Mareth - I am glad you liked everything, I loved making the Hula Girl because it took some hand sewing! Even if she isn't the most practical.

And here are my awesome items from justaddcats! I actually recieved Wednesday morning but have been out of town and so am just having a chance to upload them. I LOVE the fabrics that you picked and the items you made!

This is an awesome scrap catcher for my sewing machine and a place to hold supplies!

And my other goodies! I really like the hair clips and have already worn the smaller one. She also sent me a reversible cuff/coffee cozy and two great FQs.

Details of swap:
This swap is for those of us who love Geocaching and/or Letterboxing or would like to start! Both of these activities are like treasure hunts with different methods of finding the hidden geocache or letterbox. If you arent familiar, here is a description of each:

Geocaching is a techy worldwide treasure hunt using GPS technology. A geocacher hides a cache usually containing a logbook and starting with some trinkets or small items that can then be traded by geocachers that find it in the future. Many geocachers have signature items that they leave in caches that they find. There also can be traceable items in a cache that must be logged online. A cache is found using the GPS coordinates at the location where the cache is hidden.

Letterboxing is a similar, though less techy, activity combining a treasure hunt with the artistic creation of hand carved stamps. Letterboxes are found using directions and clues written by the person who hid the letterbox. They usually only contain a logbook and a stamp which is often hand carved. The hunter then stamps their own signature stamp in the logbook and the letterboxes stamp in their own book.

For more information, check out these websites:

For this swap, everyone will make the equivalent of 4 points for their partner as well as either 3-5 extra small items for geocachers or a hand carved stamp for letterboxers. These extra items can be purchased but it would be great if they were handmade! Extras are allowed but you may want to discuss with your partner.

By Time
-Large (3 points) = 3 or more hours
-Medium (2 points) = 2 or more hours
-Small (1 point) = 2 or less hours

By Size
-Large = A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse
-Medium = one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf
-Small = Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

By Price
-Large = $30 or more
-Medium = $10-$30 dollars
-Small = $10 or less

Some ideas for this swap would be: items for hiking, a bag to hold a partners GPS, crafted items to put into a GPS, small handmade book that your partner could use as a logbook, book to keep track of caches/letterboxes found, travel bugs or hitchhiker letterboxes, decorated compass, etc.

I also wanted to share a couple pictures of the stuff I sent A2JC4life because she accidentally posted them in the discussion thread.

I loved the way this paper banner turned out, I really wanted to keep it!

Hopefully this will actually fit her Bible!

Wow, I think Rachel (A2JC4life) were sharing brain waves for this swap! I came back from my trip to Kentucky and Ohio to find a great package!

Here is everything together! Sorry it's a little blurry...

And the books. I am really excited about Bloodroot! I was actually looking at this book on Friday when I was in Kentucky!

And the crafted stuff and extra goodies! We both made book covers and sent book plate stamps, so I swear we must have been channeling each others thoughts. She also made me an elastic bookmark and a kit for putting notes in my books in a really cute decorated tin. She also sent me a stretchy bookcover.

Thanks so much Rachel!

26  Re: $4.95 Swap AKA Fill a SMALL Flat Rate Box R3 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by littlehajerika on: March 18, 2011 10:21:24 AM
Here are pictures of my package from Pupper, I recieved while I was in Boston this week.

Lots of trims, i think my favorite is the white and silver one at the top right. It's hard to tell how pretty it is in this picture.

Second, lots of buttons, beads and sequins and some more Exacto blades

And lastly, the fabric.

Thanks Pupper!
