21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Avocado Sushi: Version giant and squishy! on: December 14, 2008 10:10:20 AM
This is a Christmas gift for my friend who really likes avocado sushi.   And he needs some pillows for his new place so I combined all that into this Avocado Sushi Pillow!  Both sides look the same with the avocado and the fish.

The size actually got away from me.  When I thought about making this, I wanted it to be the size of a couch throw pillow or something similar.  Ha ha!  As it turns out it wanted to be much, much larger!  It is about 18 inches from end to end, but that just means there is more to hug. (:

22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / felt + cassettes = coinpurse madness on: December 04, 2008 01:02:22 PM
This is a Christmas gift for my friend who saw a cassette tape coin purse and loved it!
It is entirely hand sewn.  I used felt and a clear cassette tape.

one side has polka dots and shapes

and the other has stripes

and here is the inside with the lining

I am pretty proud of how it turned out and can't wait to give it to her!
23  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 33 ENTRIES / Quick, Quick like a Bunny on: December 02, 2008 06:06:13 AM
My Niece is going to be three in December.  I made this little bunny for her to have something soft to hug and play with!

He's got felt eyes and nose...

floppy ears and feet...

and a big cottony tail.
24  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Secret Spell Book on: October 25, 2008 04:31:31 PM
My friend just had a birthday and I made this Spell Book with a secret compartment for her.
I think it turned out well and that she liked it.

I made a fabric cover and stenciled the title and design on the binding.

This is the original book.

and the inside secret compartment.

I referenced this great Make: Weekend Project video to make the secret compartment.

25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Deep Sea Fish! on: October 12, 2008 12:03:33 PM
I fell in love with this fish fabric the moment I saw it.

I used the fish fabric for the main front and back.  The fabric is really soft and comfy but not very stretchy so I used a mega stretchy cotton on the sides and for the band on the bottom.

26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Loopy Weaving on: September 07, 2008 07:22:28 PM
This bracelet is a return to beading for me.  I used to to a tremendous amount of beading in high school but I eventually got tired of it, so I just kind of stashed all of the supplies away.  But then my friend and I took part in a glass bead making workshop and each had a hand in making our own glass beads.

I made the big orange bead in the workshop and then made a weave with a loopy pattern.  I really enjoyed beading again and was happy with the result.

27  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Flowery Summer Bag on: May 11, 2008 09:26:45 AM
I made this purse mostly from a towel that used to belong to my roommate (when he saw how much I loved the pattern on it, he couldn't say no to giving it to me).  The flowers are really bright and I love them for the summer.

The lining and the knots on the strap are a linen material that I got from my grandma so this was a freebie to make!

And of course there is a pocket inside.  How else would I find my keys in any kind of timely manner!
28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Dino short pants. Yeah! on: May 08, 2008 10:33:00 AM
I just made these on a whim while I was waiting for some paint to dry on another project and I think they turned out pretty sweet.

The top is an old pair of pants that went into my fabric bin because they got a hole in the ahh.. not nice place for a hole.  So i cut off above the hole and sewed some dino fabric I picked up for cheap from the remnants area of JoAnns.  The fabric is really soft, cotton so they are totally comfy.

These are the first pants that I have ever made (well half made) and I can't wait until it is warm enough to wear them!
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Summer Jacket on: April 19, 2008 06:39:46 AM
I found a great waffle jacket for cheap!  So I cut the sleeves short and then added some gray t-shirt material to the bottoms to make the sleeves elbow length (which is great because I always end up rolling my sleeves up there anyway.) Then i embellished it a little with some great  buttons.

Now it is my spring and summer jacket

My crafting buddy had the great idea to put buttons on the zipper pull too!
30  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Delete WAR - Computer Key Barrette on: March 16, 2008 09:16:14 AM
I actually made this barrette a few years ago and it has just occurred to me to make a post about it.  So here it is!

There are small holes drilled through both sides of all of the keys and then I used fishing line to tie the keys to the barrette.

And the action shot - in my hair
