1  Damask Fleur De Lis Purse in Knitting: Completed Projects by WendyZ on: June 16, 2009 07:08:58 AM
I loved this pattern from Berroco  http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/damask/damask.html

And I grew up in New Orleans, so I love Fleur De Lis, hence...

It just needs some handles!

Here it is before felting

Made with Knit Picks Bare and WoTA in soot ( I think...)  It was a stash buster!

I've finally finished something!!! Grin

This is the Lacy High Me Tight from Tracey Ullman's book

I used Knit Picks Gloss Sock Yarn.  It's a lot warmer that I thought it would be, so I won't be wearing it anytime soon!!

3  New Cushions for Old Chairs! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by WendyZ on: July 09, 2008 06:21:09 PM
First of all, I have to say that after many failed attempts at home dec projects, I finally have a winner.  So, I'm proud of these babies - SUPER PROUD!

Now the story...
When my husband's grandfather died in 1999, my sister-in-law had just moved into her house.  We were still in a tiny apartment, so any furniture that would be passed on would have obviously gone to her, because she had the room.  She got a pair of beautiful Adirondack chairs that we're pretty sure Rob's grandfather made himself.  They were the perfect addition to Melinda's (SIL) dining room.

Fast forward to last summer.  Melinda is remodeling and doesn't have room for the chairs anymore.  Since these were made by Rob and Melinda's grandfather, she wanted to keep them in the family, rather than give them or sell them to someone else. So we took them.  I think Rob and I were both secretly hoping she would want to get rid of them eventually, so we were happy to take them.

The cushions were upholstered in a plaid that co-ordinated with the floral curtains in Melinda's dining room.  Really cute in there, but it didn't go with our black walls and Picasso prints.

Here's one before:

Rob picked out the fabric - we got that on sale with a 40% coupon to JoAnn's.  We bought the foam on sale on July 4th - 50% then an extra 10% off at the register.  I bought the batting today for 40% off.  I made the piping so that cost about 40 cents/yd.

Here's what I made:

I made a couple of pillows with the leftover black from the piping, and made piping from the leftover print:

And here's the pair of them - disregard the crap in between them!!

Thanks for looking and reading all of that!

4  Knitted Bracelet in Knitting: Completed Projects by WendyZ on: June 22, 2008 09:20:57 AM
I was bored yesterday and didn't feel like cabling on my other project, so I got out the wires that had been exploding out of my thread drawer and some beads I bought and VIOLA!!!

I actually had this when I was done, but I thought it was too wide and sparse to look good

So I just folded it in half!
Here it is off...

Thanks for looking!

6  The Dream Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by WendyZ on: March 14, 2008 01:31:16 PM
We all dream about clothes, right???

My final Master's Recital is in less than two weeks Grin.  Several months ago, I had a dream about the recital.  In this dream I wore a fabulous purple one shouldered gown and didn't mess up the Dutilleux Sonatine.  Since that puppy is a b#@$%, I figured it was a sign. Hence...

This is Vogue 8387 with 22" added to make it formal and Amazon length.
Here's the back

BTW - Don't you just love how whenever you spell check a post with pictures in it it suggests you replace "org" with "orgy"!!??!!

7  A Quick Keyhole Scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by WendyZ on: March 06, 2008 07:54:10 PM
My friend is going skiing for Spring Break and wanted to pay me to knit her a scarf.  I refused to take any money for it, but made her the scarf.  This took less than one skein of Bernat Alpaca Natural Blends in Peony.  I used US 10s and did 24 stitches across - 4 on each side in garter and the middle in stockinette.  The slit is 12 rows long and is outlined in Garter as well.  The whole thing is 30" long - just enough to tuck into a jacket.  I hope she likes it!

9  Celtic Tote...sort of in Knitting: Completed Projects by WendyZ on: January 20, 2008 09:51:38 AM
Here's my felted Celtic Tote from IK Winter 2007.  I used Wool of the Andes in Amber Heather and Patons Classic Wool in Taupe for the outlines.  I titled this "sort of" because I left out the side and bottom gussets.  After felting I have a purse that is 12" wide by 10.5" deep.  Big enough for my stuff!

After Felting:

I can't believe I finished this before Christmas!

Butterick 4849 - very easy.  I did pleats under the bust instead of gathers.

Happy Holidays!
