3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / The Kraken.... *Do not look OctoDawn!* on: December 18, 2008 07:44:45 PM
Hi there- I completed this for part of my friends Christmas present. She is octopus crazy.
I hand drew the stamp design. It is a hand carved multi block print consisting of 3 different blocks. Registration was a bit of a challenge as can be expected with any multi block print.
Sorry the photo is a little crappy- and the little white spots on it are actually christmas lights reflecting off the glass. lol! Grin
The colors are also much richer in person.

Comments welcome!

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A reconstruct- Sweater to Felted bag extrodinaire!!! on: December 06, 2008 10:01:33 AM
I made this for a personal swap I was in and it was one of the items I made for my partner.

Im sorry I didnt take before shots ( dont know how I forgot that vital part!)
But this bag was made prom a pretty sweater- that was alomst to hard to felt because it was in such great shape. But I braved up and did it and am in love with how the bag turned out.

I bought some spiffy handles which I think suit the style of the bag perfectly, added a magnetic closure and did the detailing on the bag with red thread to have it stand out against the black and accented with a red wood button.
I also lined it with some very sweet sunglass fabric.

Hope my partner liked it. She didnt say much about it when she got the package a while back, so I was a little worried. Undecided
This was also my first revamp so theres added stress. lol

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Darth Tater on: December 06, 2008 09:26:53 AM
Hi all- finally getting around to posting some pictures of stuff Ive made recently.
This was for a personal swap for friends 8 year old son who was a huge fan of Star Wars. This was one of the items I made for her for that swap.
There is metal hardware hinges located at the top and metal clips actually glued on holding the "Sith Happens" sign. The darth vader in the lower right hand corner is actually a figurine. The frame fits an 8x10 photo so its pretty big- I included a Darth Tater picture in it until they get a photo of him they want to use in it:-)

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Ode to Audrey Kawasaki on: December 04, 2008 09:06:16 PM
Hi all- first time posting in this particular part of the forums. :-)

In my painting class we had to pick an artist whose work we admire and I chose this painting called Octogirls by the brilliant artist Audrey Kawasaki. She does the most beautiful work ever on birch, with oils. I wish I could afford one....(even  a print -sadly Im poor student though. lol) maybe one day! But until then I can make due with mine. :-)

I painted it in acrylics and it measures 18X24" on white gessoboard Anyways I hope if she ever saw my tribute- she'd be ok with it. :-)

Thank you for viewing!  ( Sorry the pic isnt the greatest- there is a lot of subtle greens that are not showing up in the background. Sad

heres another better one
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Monotype Printmaking: Hollywood Glamour & Dandelion Sunset Prints on: September 10, 2008 12:47:09 PM
Hi these are my first projects in my Printmaking class.
1st assignments week one were to make Monoprints using the Subtractive/Reductive, Trace and Additive Processes. I liked the Additive best and so am going to post those.
The other processes I did sucked out loud- but Im ok with that :-)

The first one I did using additive is Hollywood Glamour:

2nd one is Dandelion Sunset- sorry posed it at a bit of an angle & the color is off a bit. Sorry.

Thanks so much for viewing!
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Beaded Art Doll ***Tree Goddess*** on: August 30, 2008 10:24:32 AM
Hi Everyone- thanks for looking at my post. This is my beaded art Tree Goddess doll and I am in love with how it turned out. I am so hyped that I am now going to do 3 of them, different styles and frame them individually and hang as a Triptych.
The body was created by Superhooker for the Beaded art doll kit swap I hosted she knew I loved trees and created this tree with wonderful print fabric I loved. I used a variety of beads from my collection to bring the vision I had to life. When deciding on the face, I chose to not give her eyes- but instead just a mouth to impart her wisdom with.

For those interested in seeing the progress shots they can be viewed on this thread:https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=260184.0

and for the finished work:

10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Jefferson's Garden on: July 20, 2008 12:43:44 PM
A portrait of flowers in Thomas Jefferson's Garden at Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia.
I purposely left negative space to the right so it would be later be suited for text.

Opinions? Normally I photograph people, however have recently discovered that subjects in nature dont tend to have "Bad Hair Days" rofl
