vellum is what you're looking for.

staples has it near their cardstock. what's cool about staples is that they carry two different kinds for both inkjet and laser printers.

and it's pretty cheap.

i used it for my wedding invites

i love that everyone has to wear a hat!!!

as far as the sugar cubes go... what i had in mind is the same concept as making sugar eggs (panorama eggs), just use small "cubed" ice cube trays.

just google "sugar eggs". there are a million sites with the very simple recipe. sugar, a touch of water, and food coloring. you want to add just enough water to make it feel like slightly wet sand. it's just enough moisture to hold it together.

just make sure that you make them on a DRY day, humidity in the air will make the drying time longer, and they'll end up kind of sticky.

i know you can get great bright colors for the food coloring at craft stores.

let me start off with... this idea seems pretty cool.

i found a few things, but i also have a few questions: how formal is your wedding? what time of year? indoor/outdoor or both?

i quickly searched the internet and this is what i found...

food: scones, muffins, pershuto wrapped around cantelope, mini sandwiches, mini tarts, mini quiche, lots of fresh fruits, petit fours that say "eat me"

drink: teas from all over the world, have your guests sweeten their tea with lumps of sugar, so they use little tongs (so cute). you can even color the sugar and make your own cubes.... VERY EASY TO DO

i found these web sites...

i also found this one with very cute favors and/or centerpieces/decorations

look around on the last one... there are mini tea pots that could be favors, there are also wire forms of tea pots that could be used for your centerpiece. very cute
