11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Hat for my camera on: July 12, 2007 06:47:54 PM
My dear sweet husband bought me a most excellent camera for my birthday and I have it on a tripod in my craft room.  I didn't want it to get all dusty (where is that maid?) so I made it a little hat.

Here's the hat hanging on a lamp while I use the camera to take the picture:

I just used patches of scraps and some leftover fringe.

I didn't want threads hanging down all over my camera, so I finished the inside as well:

I think it's cute as the dickens.

12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / You Knit What? Sweater I Really Like -- pattern needed on: July 12, 2007 01:06:24 PM
Anyone read the site "You Knit What?"

Very funny and fugly knitted objects there.

So, I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this sweater.

Anyone know where it came from?  I'd like to look at the pattern, if possible. I intend to knit it in one color, though.  A nice cocoa.

ps It might acutally be crocheted.
13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Making Fringe from Yarn on: July 06, 2007 10:03:18 AM
Does anyone know how to do it?  I don't mean little tassles at the end of scarves and blankets, I mean yards and yards of 1 inch fringe like what they sell in home dec stores for $10 a yard.

I've been reading and re-reading these directions and I've tried to follow them, twice, but each time I cut the loops the whole thing falls apart.

I have some ideas for making fringe using bias tape and double-sided interfacing, but I thought I'd check with you crafty people first.

16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Size 14 hourglass figure on: May 26, 2007 06:57:37 PM
Hi all:

Please let me know if this should be somewhere else.  I am a size 12-14 hourglass figure -- big boobs, small waist, big hips.

What clothes can I make for the summer that will look good on my figure ?  I love love love the v-neck spaghetti strap tops that are all the rage but the cups are always too small for my boobs (hi there boys!).

So I am going to make that top; I think it will look good on me.

Any other suggestions?

19  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Frumpy sweater into fabulous sweater on: January 29, 2007 05:15:04 PM
I love cardigans but they are always so old lady frumpy looking.  So I cut the bottom off mine and serged a satin stitch all the way around.

Yeah me!

It took about 5 minutes.

I love my serger.

20  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cute little silk purse with braided handles and big pink and brown tote on: January 23, 2007 07:20:42 PM
I thought I'd post these both here.  I posted the pink and brown tote in the craftalong, so I hope I'm not breaking a rule of double posting.

Here's the green silk dupioni with braided handles.  All the stitching is me practicing different stitch techniques and different feet:

Here's the lining:

Here's the tote:

I hope you like them!  I do.
