well, San Francisco has soooo many places. i couldn't even begin to list them.

And how about Northern California? We rock the crafts up here too. I even work for a local independent bookstore chain that would totally have the space for a craft-along.

i can hook you up with a contact, if ya like...

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / need help with stitch/casting on on: March 12, 2006 08:48:39 PM
hey, i'm fairly new here but have been geting so many ideas/ questions answered. i know you all can help me with this one!  Ok, i have a bootie pattern that calls for casting on x number of stitches (20 or something) at the end of a row of x number of stitches.

I had a friend show me a neat way, that was fairly stretchy and looked just like a regular cast on row, but was done with just the one thread. it wasn't just wrapping it around, it was some kind of knot. much like a cast on... urg! i hope i am making sense!

does it have a name? can anyone find a link to how to do it? My friend is out of town for two more weeks and i'm mid pair of booties!!!

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fat girls and skirts.... on: February 03, 2006 10:14:46 PM
for chafing...
i use body glide. i used it to prevent chafing when i did a marathon. and now i use it whenever i have to wear a skirt without tights. i think it's available in most jogging type places.

works wonders.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: custom clothing labels? Where to get them??? on: January 16, 2006 09:13:24 PM
i had a real similar experience with name maker labels.
i ordered iron on and they came 5 weeks later as NOT iron on, and when i called the lady was like, "no, they are iron on..."
and i explained to her that i knew how to work my iron and i can read the instructions... and her responce was "well, they are iron-on"

so yeah, don't order from them.

10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / pattern/copyrights/etc. on: January 04, 2006 09:45:24 PM
so, let's say you designed a product. let's say it's a knitted project. and you made up the pattern yourself. now let's say you sell this product. then a few months later you stumble across a pattern on a site that is veeeery similar to the one that you make. and their pattern is copyrighted.

i'm ok right? because i made up my pattern... and there are really only so many different styles of this particular product. and my pattern is different. just not much
