1  UNITED STATES / Michigan / Anyone in Midland need an OLD sewing machine? on: January 04, 2009 11:54:01 AM
I was gifted a Singer Fashion Mate, probably from the 70's.  It does a good straight stitch but I can't make the zigzag work right.  Needs a cleaning BAD.  You can't get quality machines like these anymore.  Old and heavy like cast iron!  Anyway I already have three machines so I would like to see this go to a loving home to be used...for some great craftster ideas!  You can email me at carol at carolstreasures you know, turn that into an address, I hate spam so I won't type it the right way.  I will keep this machine in my basement until it finds a new home.
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Anyone have a Singer 3102? on: January 06, 2006 11:45:25 AM
My daughter got a second hand Singer 3102 for Christmas.  No manual.  We have it threaded but the tension isn't perfect.  There is a wheel/knob on the left of the machine that is stuck on 4.  What is this for?  Overall this seems to be a great machine for a beginner.  It sews straight and zig zag.  I think she will really enjoy it.  Anyway, we'd love to hear from someone who has this machine to find out what it can do.  There are no attachments and only one bobbin.
