1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Attaching waistband? on: February 03, 2008 08:13:01 PM
I'm having tons of issues attaching the waistband to my circle skirt.

Is there a trick to doing this?

I can't seem to get the length of the waistband completely even with the top of the skirt, making it impossible sew it on without extra fabric bunching up and looking horrible!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Hoodie pattern on: February 03, 2008 08:06:45 PM
Where can I find a pattern for a hoodie?

I've looked all over and I can't seem to find one anywhere =(

Boo! =(

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Tube top w/ lace and ribbon. YAY! on: February 02, 2008 01:46:34 PM
This is my first project with my new dress form! =)

It's more form fitting than it looks. The torso on the form isn't long enough, so it bunches up at the waist on it. But it doesn't look like that on me!

There are 4 of the little chinese symbols, but only 3 are pictures. They are spaced out 7 inches apart. =)

Here it is!

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Floor length circle skirt? on: January 29, 2008 10:41:17 AM
Is this possible? Lol. Approximately how big of a piece of fabric would I need to do this? I'm about 5'4".. but i don't know how long my legs are.

Do they sell fabric that is wide enough to do this?
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Prom 2008! on: January 28, 2008 08:04:25 PM
I've decided that this year I want to make my OWN prom dress.. =)

I'm super excited.

I've made a few dresses before, but I used patterns.

But for this project (and for future use) I bought an adjustable dress form on eBay! WOOHOO!!!!

My inspiration for my dress came from this thread:

Here's my sketch:

What do you guys think?

I've decided to make the ribbons all solid, no patterns.

And I just might possibly make them all the same width. (I'll buy some wider ones just to try it out, but I like the idea them all being the same width, just different shades)

And I don't plan to completely cover the top with ribbon, a little white will be poking through.

I *might* put a couple layers of tulle underneath to make it a little poofy, but not overly poofy. My dress last year was very princess-y.. white pink and purple.. so i'm going completely opposite this year.

The pattern I have envisioned is just a circle skirt and two rectangles to make the tube top. Does that sound about right?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated =)

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Writting on metal on: June 01, 2006 04:23:21 PM
What can you use to write on metal that will stay?

Would a paint pen work? Will it wash off?

I suggested a sharpie, but I don't tihnk that'll show up.

TIA ;-)
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Thrift store picture revamp.. on: April 09, 2006 12:49:30 PM
I know this is the current theme for the challenge. But we should do a swap of it, too! I know there's been a few before, so i'm not sure what round it'd be on now..

But yeah. I was skimming through the pictures of the first round and oh my! The stuff was amazing. We just moved into a new house so I could use an awesome picture to put on my wall!

Anybody else up for it?
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / This has prob been posted.. but- Tim Burton swap? on: April 01, 2006 09:56:43 PM
This has probably already been a swap or has been suggested before. But I didn't see anything. So :-)

I tihnk it'd be neat. I was watching Sleepy Hollow tonight and I got to thinking about all the fabulous Tim Burton movies.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Where can I buy resin and/or epoxy..? on: April 01, 2006 06:38:14 PM
I've never seen it anywhere before.

Also... what is Mod Podge used for exactly?
10  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Cereal box instead of cardstock? on: March 26, 2006 09:23:03 PM
I don't have any cardstock :-( or freezer paper.... do you think a cereal box would work???

Also- what kind of brush would you recomend is best? I've got foam brushes, a foam roller, and another type of roller.. it's not foam. I don't know what it is. It's like a regular roller for painting walls.. except mini :-P

I don't have any special medium to mix with my paint. But i've got this photo medium stuff... it says it's used for transferring pictures "and more" (like photocopies and such) to fabric. Do you think it'd work if I mixed it with the paint?
