1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: http://www.freecycle.org/ is a lifesaver! on: July 17, 2009 06:33:48 PM
Ha. I wish our local Freecycle was *more* moderated. Last time I tried to check in it was a wasteland of people posting requests and hardly anyone getting rid of free stuff. "I need a free car. U drop off. Vintage BMW only." Totally weird.

Ha. Go cyclistas. I like your swoopy lettering style, too.

A friend of mine links this video in the "religious views" area of her Facebook profile. My gift to you.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Is this wierd? on: March 12, 2009 12:02:17 PM
I have gone through phases. At first, everything I knit was a gift or for sale. Now it has been a few years since I gave something away. I think it's ok to follow your heart on that one.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Need a tights pattern for a curvy woman! on: March 05, 2009 01:51:26 PM
I haven't made these, but this is a leggings pattern that says you knit to fit your body (try on as you go). I saw it on ravelry-- there are more tights patterns on there too.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Fingerless mits- insanity!! on: March 04, 2009 01:36:45 PM
ha! i'm glad i'm not the only one who gets into these ridiculous multi-needle situations. a practical motivation, and yet...

cute mitties, too. red and aqua is my long-running favourite colour combination.

indeed! i especially like the sleeve shapes.

what's going on in the long sleeves-- some kind of cable and lace accent? it looks fun.
9  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: PLEASE HELP Puffy sleeve blouse by Karen Walker(How could I go about making it) on: November 06, 2008 01:46:02 PM
That is a pretty cute shirt.

This Burdastyle shirt pattern has similar sleeves. It's a modification of another shirt pattern, so I think it even includes general instructions for adding big puffy sleeves.

There's a separate tutorial about pleated bibs as well, if you like that part of the shirt.
10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: GREAT hair wash on: July 09, 2008 04:21:15 PM
I just discovered how much fun herbal hair rinses are-- they're up there with homemade face masks and cucumbers on your eyes and all that!

This shampoo-free hair care page, lists some other herbs you can use in the same kind of hair rinses. The herbs are listed at the bottom, after all the info about washing your hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar.

I know this is an old thread, but if anybody is looking for an alternative to rosemary because they don't like the smell, lavender does similar things. (Personally I'm all for rosemary, all the time. Delish!)
