Sheeze, it's been a while since I posted up here. To catch you up -

House socks! Worsted weight, snuggly and warm. I wear them over my other socks, so I can get a couple uses before washing.

Free pattern - http://needyl.com/knitting/snow-day-free-sock-pattern

Similarly - a hat and the owls sweater, modded to be a cardigan

Snapdragon pop-tops for my sister for Christmas

And a damson for me -

Busy needles.

I made booties! Lots of 'em.

Lot-o-spawn coming to friends and family in 2010, so I'm getting prepared. Some of these will be used as baby shower decorations. We'll string them up on a clothes line over the food table. I imagine people will be so overwhelmed by the cute that they'll forget to eat their cupcakes.

I tried to be punk and sporty. I'm neither of those things, and I think it's obvious Smiley

I'm pretty stinkin' thrilled with them. What do you think?

There are slightly bigger pics at my blog - http://needyl.com/shana/things-small-people (click on them and they enlarge)

Oh, cute! Did you use a pattern to make these?

yeah, I actually designed them. I have the pattern up on my site. They are for sale, which I believe it's against the rules to post links to. If you're so inclined, I bet if you followed my footer link, you'd find them on the right hand side.

and boy don't I look relaxed with my feet up on the window sill?

That's all an illusion. It's quite hard to photograph your own feet. Not relaxing at all.

Anyway. Enjoy!

I cry too. I think it's a shame to cover beautiful wood with paint that chips.

Unfortunately, this wood was not pretty. It's kind of like make-up - normally I am a minimalist, but I understand why Oprah wears so much.

Check out my new dresser -

It started with this unloved piece picked up at a garage sale

It still needs new knobs. I think I'll pick up some plain wood ones and paint them red.

I'm very excited about this dresser because I've been trying to figure out what to do with my bedroom, and I think I have a direction now. Cool blues and greys with red as an accent, I think.

I have some more posts about it up on my blog: http://needyl.com/craft-type/operation-domestication

Here are some more in progress pics

I closed on my first home on May 1st, and I've been gussying it up ever since. I'm way past due posting my results up here, but I've been posting the results up here: http://needyl.com/craft-type/operation-domestication

My goal is to buy as little new stuff as possible as a challenge to my craftiness. So, buying towels to embroider is fine, but I can't use them until they are embroidered. For furniture, it's garage sales, antique and thrift stores.

I still have a lot left to do, but here's what I've accomplished in the last 6 weeks.

Living room before:

Living room today:

I did cheat and buy curtains for the front window, because I just couldn't make them a top priority when I was living out of boxes, and being the neighborhood exhibitionist isn't really my thing. I inherited the couch (which I slip covered, the uncovered pillows are the original fabric. vomit.) and the chair. Pot the plant is in was painted using leftover wall paint from the kitchen. That tiny line on the right is my TV. It's huge.

Left to do - I want to get a new table for the tv that I can put the videos under. Where the picnic basket (my knitting) is, I'd like to put a wine rack that can second as an end table. I'd also like to get an end table that I'll put on wheels. Also, I need something for over the couch. I'm thinking I might embroider a triptych. Maybe...

Also, I need to finish covering the pillows. You can really see the amazing original fabric.

Dining room/kitchen before:

Kitchen after

Kitchen wasn't much work. Just painted the walls (the blue is a chalkboard), made the curtains, knit some washclothes, and embroidered the towels. I'm working on a rug for it, but not really much more to do. Maybe make some magnets.

Dining room is more of place to put the table. I found the end table on Craigslist, the chairs at an antique store, and my mom gave me the table. I made those curtains too. Making curtains is boring.

Craft room before:

Craft room after:

Messy shelves!

I also painted the bathroom, but I hate the color, so it'll be redone. I haven't done a thing to the bedroom yet.

So, what do you think?

gNorman digs it.
