11  phone cozy with pattern link in Knitting: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: February 08, 2009 09:58:35 AM
I made a cozy for my Gphone because the sleeve it comes with is heinous. I'm thinking I might put buttons in the middle of the diamonds for decoration. The diamonds are a little bigger than I'd expected. But for a quick project, I don't think it's bad.

Let me know what you think! I wrote the pattern up here: http://needyl.com/knitting/phone-cozy-pattern

12  Dine and Dashing in Knitting: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: December 30, 2008 07:31:21 PM
I wrote up a pattern to try to raise a little money for our local foodbank (it's a rough year for foodbank - lots of demand and everyone is cutting back on donations). I'm really proud of the results. I think this is my favorite design yet.

What do you think? Think it's good enough to rustle up some grub?

13  Frog eye hat (with pattern link) in Knitting: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: November 08, 2008 07:55:43 PM
I started this hat inspired by one a coworker's kid hat. It was the cutest thing with little frog eyes on top.

I didn't want to knit a boring stockinette stitch hat, so I made this one, and decided it was cute enough without the eyes.

I wrote up the pattern here: http://needyl.com/knitting/frog-eye-hat

14  I wrote a sock pattern! (link) in Knitting: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: September 19, 2008 02:17:12 PM
A couple months ago, I knit my first pair of socks, just to see what the big deal was. Because, seriously, you can buy a pack of 4 for $10, why knit them?

Oh, that pair of purple, nearly to short socks changed everything. I totally get it now. They are like hugs for your feet, and they are kind of a nice secret luxury. Unfortunately, all my other socks are inferior now...

So I must knit!

These are my O! socks, affectionately named after Omaha (not the "O" face, although, you can go there if you'd like)

The pattern is up here: http://needyl.com/knitting/o-socks

15  Monster Booties - now with knitting pattern link in Knitting: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: August 24, 2008 09:02:41 AM
I'd written up a crochet version (http://www.needyl.com/crochet/monster-baby-booty-pattern) of my Monster baby booties a month or so ago. It got a pretty enthusiastic response, so I made a knitted version.

the pattern is here: http://needyl.com/knitting/knit-monster-baby-booties

let me know what you think!

16  Carrot! (with pattern link) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: August 16, 2008 10:22:29 AM
My first niece will be arriving any day now, so I'm making her random things that show what I want for her. I made her a quilt inspired by an abacus (http://needyl.com/quilting/abacus-baby-quilt-pattern) so she would be good at math (an abacus is one of those bead things that people used for math before there were calculators).

And so she has good eye sight and can see in dim light - a carrot!

It was really fast and easy. I might still put a smiley face on it (veggies are friendly, after all) I put the tutorial here: http://needyl.com/crochet/carrot

I think I might make her more veggies - I want her to eat well, after all Smiley

17  Monster booties. Grr. Arg. in Crochet: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: July 16, 2008 07:53:57 PM
I made these monster baby booties from my coworker's baby boy. I suspect he'll be a monster.

I wrote the pattern up here. I'd be thrilled to see the results if anyone gives them a try: http://needyl.com/crochet/monster-baby-booty-pattern

Off to cause trouble.

18  Abacus Baby Quilt - in progress in Quilting: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: July 06, 2008 08:16:39 PM
Not quite done, but I'm liking the way this one is turning out.

It's a baby quilt I'm designing for my first niece due this September (yay!).

I ran out of white fabric (mostly due to making stupid mistakes), so it's on hold until I can get a little more. I think I'm going to add one more row of "beads" to make it a little wider, add a solid border, a border of "beads" (sort of represented in the bottom photo) and another solid border.

19  My first pair of socks in Knitting: Completed Projects by umbrellamaker on: July 06, 2008 08:06:50 PM
I finished my first pair of socks!

I don't know if there will be a second pair any time soon (so much work for...socks.), but this one is a success!

The pattern I used is free and here: http://www.knitanon.com/blog/bff.html

I made this:

It makes me do this:

I'm trying to write the pattern here: http://needyl.com/knitting/honeycomb-hat-pattern

I have the chart done, but transcribing it sucks. Does anyone really work from written directions if a chart is available?
