13  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Roman Shades Help!!! on: August 11, 2006 07:27:48 AM
Hello All!!

I am new to this sort of craftiness but I am trying to do something new, I recently saw a post on somebody makes shades out of a straw beach mat type thing, well I want to do the same idea, but I want to do it a little more finished and I want to have the roman shades type feel to it. This is going to be in my moms living room, I want it to be a little classy so I want to add a valance over the top of it all on the windows, but I just have no idea where to start in regards to turning the beach mats into roman shades, I dont want to have to spend a whole lot of money, and I just am a little confused with using the beach mat, but my mom loved the idea so its her house and we are going to stick to it, just would like to get it done soon, as right now she is complaining about the blinds she has.

Thanks for any help to all the fellow craftinistas and craftinistos (hahaha) in advance.

15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Finally Something I LOOOOVE on: July 15, 2006 04:10:14 PM
For a while I have been in a sewing clothing until they are finished drought, I will start a project and when it doesn't come out exactly how I like it I just stop doing it. Well that stopped on Thursday night, I stayed up until like 2am, and I made myself finish it. It was a regular grey gap long sleeve shirt but with some added knit fabric and some creativeness I turned into something that I LOVE...

Sorry in advance for the bad pics, my digital camera was stolen. **DAMN YOU, YOU THEIVES**

This is a semi before pic, I had already cut the middle slit, to make it sexy, hahaha... but I sewed it up so here is the process before stage..

This it the after... pardon my bra. I added the black knit in the middle and added the black knit on the sleeves and shortened them.

This is the bow/knot in the back, that black part at the bottom is actually a black tank.

I made it so that I can change the center color by wearing a tank top, like today I wore a pink tube top underneath it was super cute.

What do you guys think???

Don't really want the back to look like that, well not the tie part of it.

Thanks to all the craft ppl who can help.

Here is the 2nd attempt.

(That is the green salad type bowl I used for the shape)

(I used a CD to get a general idea of how big I wanted the handle cut out area to be)

Here is my first version https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=70546.msg727497#msg727497
