41  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Vincent's Rock+Roll Diaper Bag! on: March 10, 2009 08:27:36 PM
So with help from this tute, I came up with this super rad diaper bag for when my son's born ((8weeks eek!))

I made it from black tartan ((I bought metres + metres of this stuff from a garage sale. The lady once owned a fabric store + every weekend she has a garage sale and sells everythign 1/3 of the marked price! So the fabric ended up being $3 a metre!!!!)) and lined it with leopard print ((bought from the same garage sale!))

Instead of a flap, I added a zipper and some awesome interior pockets Smiley

Close up of the front patch

I made the straps long enough to be slung over one shoulder, or across both.

Outside elasticated pocket with an 8-ball charm Smiley

Inside view!

I flipped the bag inside out so you can see the details

Inside zipper pocket for putting all my personal stuff in

yep, iPhone pocket Smiley my husband + I have one each so it seemed like the right thing to do

beside the iPhone pocket is this clip to clip our keys onto - easier to find!

elasticated inner pocket

it fits over the pram handle too Smiley ((yes I will be careful, the pram is pretty sturdy that the bag won't make it tip but yes I am aware that this can happen))

now I'm going to make baby a pair of shorts, and myself a pair of skinnies out of matching fabric!

Edited to Add:: Unfortunately, when it comes to real life, this bag FAILED. The opening was way too small to get to everything properly. Plus, you really don't need to lug THAT much around. About 4 nappies, wipes, plastic bags, change mat + a spare change of clothes. Most of that fits in my handbag Cheesy
42  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Tartan Booties for a Little Rocker on: March 05, 2009 06:22:01 PM
So I cut up my husband's red tartan boxer shorts ((the elastic was gone in them)) and firstly made a pair of tartan pants for our soon-to-be-born-son. I still had heaps of fabric left over ((Oh it's wonderful sewing kid's stuff!)) so i made these little booties.

The 'scuff marks' on the toe is actually due to my iron being way to hot and just melting the interfacing onto the iron Cheesy

Our kid is destined to be a rockstar, he has no choice.

I used this tutorial. It's a bit bigger than I thought it would be, but nothing I can't easily resize.

P.s. I think we should have a sticky thread just for pics of the baby shoes we make, because there are a million posts of them!

I'm going to update this post with more shoes I make for him.
43  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Halloweeny Baby Bouncer! on: March 05, 2009 06:14:20 PM
So we bought this baby bouncer from the kid's markets for $10. It was ugly although my sister thought the fabric was cute. I hated it. We snapped the little faded toys off the bar and I took the cover off, unpicked it + made a new one using the pieces of the old one as a pattern.

I edged the strap with satin ribbon, its really nice and soft. The straps I used were from a supermarket trolley that i stole the straps off years and years ago. I hoarded that strap since I was about 17 and now I've finally used it Cheesy Naughty I know.

Now all I need to do is make some little dangly toys to hang from the bar.
44  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Baby Shower Bingo on: March 02, 2009 06:19:23 PM
So I just finished making 30 ((phew)) baby shower bingo cards + thought I'd share them here!

Here's a sample of one!

Feel free to use them. They full set plus a caller's card and a blank template are here on my photobucket. If you need a password the guest password is "whataskank"

I made them in photoshop and just googled the images, making them into individual images and dragged + dropped them onto the template I had made. i havn't checked to see if there are any with the same combination in a row, but oh well! It's not REAL bingo Cheesy I made 16 squares and there are 19 images so I'm sure there are some combinations that might double up,  but I doubt it!

45  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / :: Underbust AppleGreen Layered Ruffley Skirt :: on: February 03, 2009 11:11:03 PM
So I havn't sewed in a while. It's hard to try and make something cute that fits over my massive stomach these days!

I think this skirt is so cute + pretty, but maybe a little silly for me right now, I don't know. I'm just getting sick of underbust clothes or super low rise things to accomodate for my baby belly! ((Can't wait to get him out + start wearing normal clothes again!))

I used up a whole heap of scrap pieces of fabric so it made me happy Cheesy

And I wrote a tute for this skirt, but here's my favourite pic from it Cheesy

With motherhood comes some really awesome things! ((Apart from the baby... y'know))
46  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Hot Pink + Black Recycled Denim Mini :: with Tutorial Link:: on: January 03, 2009 03:37:18 PM
So i made this skirt from two pairs of jeans - a black pair + a hideous hot pink pair. I cut off the legs + cut the legs into strips + stitched them all together to make this fabulous mini!

It has an exposed metal zipper which I am so in love with right now Cheesy

You can find the tute on my tutorial site here

P.s. Yep, I'm holding Nerds Rope. It's my new favourite thing since I can't drink anymore Cheesy
47  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / NYE Dresses for Max + Betty California ::With Matching Hair:: on: January 01, 2009 12:06:44 AM
SO yesterday I decided that even though I was not able to get rip-roaring drunk, I still wanted to go out! We weren't going to do anything, but I decided we shoudl do SOMETHING.

I made this dress to wear since I painted my nails this really cool chrome pink + didn't want to waste it. Then I dyed my fringe to match Cheesy

My sister popped over just after midnight and she was wearing a dress I made her a few weeks ago ((gosh she has no idea how freaking lucky she is!)) I noticed afterwards that both of us had dresses to match our hair Cheesy

The fabric on my dress is just pink cotton with little black cherubs on it.  It was annoying + i almost gave up on it. I didn't use a pattern, just cut out rectangles + sewed them together. I sewed a long metal zip down the back as an exposed zipper-upper - I'm really digging that look now.

Lol at my husband - he lost his pants somehow during the night. And LOL at them awesomely playing xbox... they're still playing.

Yeh she wanted me to make a dress like the one I custom-made one of my customers for Greazefest Cheesy

I didn't think I looked that pregnant in my dress, but while we were at Southbank ((lame)) a girl came up and was like, "I REALLY like your dress" and I was like, "YEY" and then her friend was like, "omg she's pregnant!"

48  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I'm Going To Be a MILF :: 4 x rock + roll maternity garments :: on: January 01, 2009 12:00:17 AM
Yeh I went shopping at like Kmart + BIgW to find some maternity jeans.

OMFG NO WAY am I ever goign to wear anything like that. They are so.... oh god unflattering.

I'm just going to make my own - not that I'd be able to wear jeans in this weather anyway.

So I made my own maternity clothes because what you got that's cheap is like hideous, and what you got that's kind of flattering is $$$$$$

Sweetie Shorts
We bought this remnant of gingham a few months back at a garage sale where we got heaps of cute baby clothes. I was going to use it to cover the lids of jam we had made as presents - but we cbf!

I didn't realise how much fabric there was. And only 50c!

I made the pattern myself - altho I have to tweak it majorly since the back went odd + I had to add a panel across the back. There's elastic in the back waistband because A I have a sway back + most pants/shorts make me look like I'm stanidn gin a bucket and B room to grow!

I put some love hearts on the butt + the pockets and hearts are trimmed in red lace ruffles. There's horizontal pleats down the side panels too, but you can't really tell with all that gingham.

This fabric reminded me of bandages. i really like it + i wanted to make pants but its just too hot. This miniskirt since nicely below my belly. ahah. I stitched old grey zippers to the outside + litlte cream-lace bows I had in my Embellishments box

haah  I look so over it here. It's just REALLY HOT. I used a top my sister had that I liked as the pattern + made this top a little while ago. It's quite low - but that's ok because my boobs are filling it considerably now. lol.

yeh see I TOLD you I was pregnant. lol

Red Dress
This was quick to whip up. Just a long t-shirt made from red jerseyknit lying around. I used some stripey stretchknit as a contrast + 2 little shipwheel buttons for somethign cute.

Uh-oh bellybutton! PLEASE stay in!

49  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Because I would Never Wear Tradiitonal Maternity Tees! ::2xtee surgeries:: on: December 31, 2008 11:45:43 PM
I think I forgot to mention that I'm pregnant! haha. The last time i posted here ((As in, not today)) I showed off my clockwork-orange recon. I was about 2 months pregnant there I think - not that you could tell!

Well now you can. It jiggles up + down when I laugh + my bellybutton is threatening to pop out anyday now.

And yep, I've already started cutting up my husband's tees to make cute onesies for the little fella Grin

The only bad thing is - nothing fits me anymore! T-shirts are too short + tight, and I can't even zip up my dresses anymore.

I didn't want to make a whole heap of clothes that I wasn't going to be able to wear again because they are obviosuly maternity - so I made long t-shirts that I can wear forever and some baby-doll dresses.

Here's what I reconstructed Cheesy Black makes my bump disappear hahah

I Walk The Line
My Johnny Cash tee was waayyyy too small for me anyway. I kept it in my cardboard box of thigns to recon ((it's like 1m deep x 1m wide by 2m long.... and its full  Shocked)). I was so scared of cutting it up because it was like the most expensive tee I've ever bought! Seriously if I pay $20 for one shirt - that's too much. ahah. And this baby was $50.

So I got over my fear. I was going to make a onesie for baby Vincent, but decided I needed it first!

The only original bits are the sleeves and the lower stomach. I pieced together all the fabrics + then cut it out with my neverfail t-shirt pattern ((Drafted from a well-fitting t-shirt dress)). There was a sale on lace at Spotlight, so I bought metres + metres of it - used most of it on this. It's black stretch lace which I freaking love!!

Tim reckons the bow looks like it should start spinning at any minute Cheesy

He Comes About 4th on my favourite SuperHeros List
Sorry Superman, but you're just so gosh darn super you make me wanna vom. Anyway. I reconned this shirt of Tim's years ago + it sucked. So I reconned it again!

50  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Psychobilly Freakout ::10 + Greazefest outfits:: on: December 31, 2008 11:30:31 PM
I was just wondering why all of a sudden the smilies have hats on.

I get it.

New Years.

ANYWAY! I havn't posted here in forever - so get ready!

I realised I didn't do a post for this last year's greazefest outfits! I made a squillion!

Greazefest is a rocknroll festival held annually here in Brisbane. I love it so much. This year I'm going to have a stall finally! ((I keep saying it, but this time I mean it)). There's rockabilly bands, dancing, hot-rod show, low-brow art show + heaps of stalls. This year there was even a tattoo parlour in a caravan ((tres cute but god they were stuck up bitches!))

It goes for 4 nights + 1 day. The pre-party, the Sinner's Ball, the Greazer's Ball, the hot-rod show day + then the Afterparty.

It's alot of partying, but we were ready for it - and had outfits for every night Cheesy

First I did two custom dresses for my favourite customer Amy. They are both strapless with half-circle skirts + fully lined Cheesy

Amy at the Sinner's Ball

Amy at the AfterParty

This is what my husband + I wore to the Pre-Party.

You've prolly seen the harlequin-print mini skirt before, but I reconned a Calabrese tee for myself + he had a matching bowling shirt Grin

There aren't any good pics of what the other girls wore. But my sister wore the little bo-peep dress I made her years ago ((Still a winner, still the only one I've made!)) and our friend Leona wore stole another dress I made.

Here's a pic from our waists up Cheesy

Sinner's Ball

We only made it to one ball. We decided to go to a local gig instead on the Saturday night.

We dressed up as sailor's and I made all of our outfits. We colour co-ordinated shoes + accessories too, unfortunately we didn't get a good enough pic of that!

I sewed little fabric bows to our sailor hats. I did attempt to make one, but it was just a little off so we bought them instead. Each dress is different. I'm going to get clearer pics of them this weekend actually so I'll put them up when I get them Cheesy

The blue dress has a half-circle skirt, fitted bodice + a really cute neckline. I honestly have no idea what to call it.. trapezoid? It was a little low + leona's really busty so I added a little white cuff across the top. It's got a little middy collar.

We made little patches from fabric, interfacing, clear nailpolish + hotglue Cheesy for the backs of our collars. No pic of that at the mo either Sad they were banners with our names in the middle. (Y)

The white dress was a very low-cut wiggle dress. I was popping out the entire night - misjudged my pattern a bit i think. It was just plain white + a little scary since i never wear white!

Betty wore a little red sailor dress with black Jolly Roger buttons on the collar. Her dress had a pleated skirt and was shorter than the rest of ours. It kinda reminded me of Sailor Moon Cheesy

Hot-Rod Show + Afterparty

I whipped up a little one-piece shortie outfit out of slightly stretchy drill fabric. I didn't put a zip in it - I didn't have time! It was a bit difficult drafting the pattern because I was so scared it was going to be too short in the body! I've seen girl's wear store-bought ones + you have to be SO careful. lol.

Yep that's Rachikus with me in her own dress Grin

The back. That's my sister Betty with the parasol beside me. We whipped up her high-waisted shorts out of teh same fabric as my jumpsuit. Again, no zipper, just wiggle into them! ahah. We didn't even finish the tops of them because we were literally sewing + putting on make-up at the same time that morning! She folded over the raw edge and wore a belt Cheesy

This is what I made for Betty to wear originally on the night we were going to the Greazer's Ball. But we didn't go so Leona wore it on the main day instead. We dyed the same white ocelot-print fabric that I used in my motorcycle jacket Cheesy

We dyed it green + i used it for the dress + Tim's bowling shirt.

The back of the dress had a tie - here's the best pic of it. ((She stole this dress too which annoys me Sad))

((Yeh, apparently most of the pics of the entire festival was taken in the toilets! ahahha))

And my favourite picture from the whole festival!

none of us have any idea what the hell was going on in that photo Cheesy
