1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Ruffle on a Nuno Scarf? on: November 03, 2012 04:50:42 PM
I just made my first Nuno scarf using this kit (http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/9619409-AA.shtml) and it came out awesomely!  I want to make another Nuno felted scarf with ruffles this time but I can't find a tutorial.  Help?

I'm experienced in felting soap and doing simple needle felting.

I'd like to make one like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1092&bih=514&tbm=isch&tbnid=O3vtumaYUKrh8M:&imgrefurl=http://www.etsy.com/listing/83062799/ruffle-wool-nuno-felted-scarf-beige&docid=vabSUd0Cj1Q8oM&imgurl=http://img3.etsystatic.com/000/0/5444060/il_fullxfull.275390667.jpg&w=1000&h=806&ei=Wa2VUKuwDavD0AGS9YEI&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=508&vpy=210&dur=439&hovh=195&hovw=243&tx=98&ty=172&sig=117706421020688196008&page=4&tbnh=129&tbnw=164&start=55&ndsp=25&ved=1t:429,r:37,s:20,i:248

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Posh boyfriend help! on: November 08, 2006 08:40:42 AM
My boyfriend loves posh things but with saving for our wedding, we have a limited gift budget for Yule this year.  In the past I've gotten him things like a straight razor set with homemade soap, men's facial stuff from bath and body works, ugg slippers, a good watch, clothes for work, etc.  He works a day job where he has to wear button down shirts and ties.  He loves techie stuff (video games, phones, computer stuff, ipod stuff, etc.).

I would love to make him something that would make him feel very glam but would also be somewhat practical.  I would rate my crafting skills as an advanced beginner.  I can do some sewing, decoupage, some beading, and general crafting.  Help?

8  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Salon Convention's charity auction supporting the Jonathan Larson Performing Art on: December 15, 2005 11:24:53 AM
Hello fellow crafters,

I am in the planning stage for Salon Convention 2006.  One of the goals of our convention is to do some charitable work.  To this end, we are supporting The Jonathan Larson Foundation (www.jlpaf.org) as the JLPAF's ideals and community goes very well with our convention patrons.  We plan on having a charity auction (as well as a quilting project) and all of the proceeds of the auction will go there.   Would you be willing to donate something for this?
We have a myspace community: http://www.myspace.com/ as well as a livejournal community: http://www.livejournal.com/community/saloncon in addition to our website.  We would promote you on these communities and website as well as promoting you with postcards (if you could provide those) on the day of.
Let us know!

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Cupcake and Cordial Birthday Party on: December 12, 2005 08:58:18 PM
Hi there!

First post.

I'm throwing myself a birthday party in January.  I plan on making my own cordials.  Do you have any recipes to share?  Other questions:

* I'm looking to do a color theme of pink and brown.  My apartment (habitrail sized) is not themed in such colors.  Any ideas on how to express these colors?

* I'm turning 27.  We're a little past too many drinking games and we usually play if, using the book.  Any ideas for fun new (to us) games?

* I'm looking for more recipes for cool looking sweets (like stuff like this: http://www.notmartha.org/tomake/hostesssushi.html), any ideas?

* Any other general ideas?
