38  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Eeek worse photo ever but I made a dress. on: October 28, 2006 11:23:37 AM
Zippers really arent that hard to do; I think people make them out worst than they are. What I would do if I were you would be, undo one of your seams, get a zipper that fits in that length or follow the directions that come with them to cut it down, Next unzip the zipper and pin one side of the fabric with the correlating side of the zipper, make sure the fabric covers the beginning of the teeth of the zipper, next sew, repeat these steps with the other side and sew across the bottom of the zipper and you are done.
39  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: My "Self Portrait" Criticize away! on: October 28, 2006 11:07:04 AM
i love how you set this painting up. i agree that it is a highschool painting, but thats ok, and thats part of what makes it beautiful. i would deffinitly say take up painting again, its a good hobby. my one comment about your teacher, though obviously i wasnt there, they may have been trying to get you to paint your face, and you didnt do that. being an artist i myself have done this many times, tryed to be artistic and not do what every one else has been doing, and have gotten bad grades, when i talked to my teachers about it almost every time it was because i missed the point of the project. ALso i love your idea of doing a self portrait for your fiancee, if i were you i would take a picture and make it black and white and work from that, also you should look up facial proportions online because that will also help line every thing up.
Good luck
