Beantown, thats a good idea using one piece of fabric.
i never thought of that.

GREAT results, esp with using interfacing!

How does one get involved in a swap?

I am a sewin' fool--I made 3 bags and a sunhat this weekend.  One of the bags I made was a large Jordy and instead of using 2 separate pieces for the front and back, I used one and on the edge where one would normally cut out the squares, I cut on the fold so it is all one piece.  I made it with 2 handles attached to the front and back b/c it was big and I wanted the tote to hold more stuff comfortably.  My husband thinks I am insane.

With the free download (it's called Wild Things), I made a sun hat today.  You can scale the patterns to fit you and your style which is cool and you can arrange the pices on paper to be printed out on your printer.  The directions, however, leave a little to be desired.  There are no pictures to follow along with.  Maybe once I get better at sewing things with linings, it will be easier.

My first Jordy bag...

(no interfacing b/c I was lazy this time)

It's a pink lightweight courderoy with pink lining.  I made a sunhat too but it came out poopy.

I downloaded the free demo (fairly simple stuff) from www.wildginger.com and I have yet to make anything.  I may try a beach hat tonight.  I like the fact that the software is really simple.

I love my Kenmore Mini Ultra 3/4 size machine...it's pretty simple and under a hundred bucks.  It's smaller than your average machine and does do button holes.
