11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Kid's Valentines Mailbox on: January 29, 2006 09:28:03 AM
So, in the past, my kids have always taken the most creative mailboxes to school for Valentine's day.

This year, I'm stumped.  They are in a different school now - so I tried to talk my boy into doing the same as one we've done in the past and for some reason the kid wants something new and different.  AND he wants HIS to be the most unique in the class.  For some reason...the kid will not settle for a shoe box decorated with construction paper.  I've warped my kid!

So...he is up for just about anything that is different.  The problem is that I'M STUMPED.  My creativity is just not focused on kids valentines boxes.

So, if anyone has any ideas, suggestions, tutorials, pictures...something that will get my creative juices flowing...I'd BE YOUR BEST FRIEND FOREVER!!!!
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Duct Tape Rose VASE - help on: January 26, 2006 09:35:26 AM
Ok, so I finally figured out how to make the duct tape roses after looking at I think every single tute on craftster.

I want to go one step beyond the duct tape roses and make a duct tape vase.

I'm not a duct tape crafty person...so I'm clueless on where to start!  My 9yo son told me to wrap it around a regular vase and voila!  I'll resort to that if I have to...but I would LOVE to have a pure duct tape (or packaging tape...to make it 'clear') vase.

Any suggestions?  Anyone ever make a duct tape vase before?

13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / The Golfer's lamp on: January 07, 2006 10:17:49 AM
Ok, so about a year and a half ago, my husband accepted a job in another state.  Instead of relocating immediately - we decided he would rent a small efficiency apartment for a few months.  The kids and I got together and started crafting to decorate his little apartment.  Among many other projects that we completed (and didn't get photos of)...was the golfer's lamp.

I made this out of a flower vase.  I filled the vase with golfballs and tees.  I drilled holes in the balls for the stem.  Ummm...if anyone decides to drill holes in golf balls for whatever reason - I highly recommend that you do NOT try it with Tietlist (sp) balls!

I never got to finish by decorating the shade.  I was not thrilled with the shade size - so I planned to get out and get another one.

14  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Ottoman from Table on: December 23, 2005 07:15:16 PM
Ok, so I decided to introduce myself before I posted some of my projects.  This is my first post on a project I've done.
Here is one project I created from a cheesy table my friend had out on her patio.  She hated it and gave it to me...said, "Keep it and do whatever you want with it.".  I didn't keep it.  I made it into something that would match her decor in her house and gave it right back to her.

The only 'before' pic I got was while I was actually working on it:

The finished project!
