1  Re: Small Destash/buy nothing swap 4 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Decaf on: September 19, 2009 10:21:28 AM
I got my package from guineverefree...holy crap!  My jaw dropped open when I opened the package and I'm still grinning from ear to ear (which I've really needed lately!)  Prepare to drool...

First, a teaser pic of my cat checking out the box and treasure inside (pretty sure she wanted to keep it for herself...too bad Banana, it's mine!)

OK, onto the good stuff...check out this hooded scarf!  I had a similar one in my wists, but this one is WAY better!  I adore the colors, and look at all the patterns!

Yeah, I know you're jealous  Grin  Here are some more pics of all the different patterns she used...

Stars!  Checkerboard!

Stripes!  Other amazing patterns I don't know the name of (in the note she listed all the different stiches she used...I count 15 different stiches between the knit and crochet!  WOW!)

Finally, the action shot (I couldn't wait for my husband to get home to take a pic for me, or apparently even to put on makeup  Cheesy

It fits perfectly!  THANK YOU SO MUCH guineverefree!  You're an awesome partner and organizer!

2  Re: Budget Meals Swap Gallery of Deliciousness! in The Swap Gallery by Decaf on: June 21, 2009 01:15:20 PM
Hi Everyone,
Kimberly sent me a great package packed FULL of awesomeness.  There were 2 memo boards, plus 4 trivets, and a ton of recipes.  Also, she included as an "extra" a big list of 100-calorie or less snacks.  It's really neat and helpful!

Here's a pic of (most) everything:

And here's a pic of the other memo board, which went up on the wall almost immediately, to hold mail:

I LOVE the fabric used, it's my favorite colors and looks great in our apartment.  Finally, here's one of the awesome recipes I'm looking forward to trying out right away:

Mediterranean Chicken and Brown Rice Casserole - $1.71 avg cost per serving (makes 14 1-cup servings)

1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 1/4 cups feta cheese, crumbled
6 cups cooked brown rice
1 10-oz pkg frozen spinach, thawed and drained
1 28-oz can of tomatoes, diced or whole with juice
1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes, chopped finely
4-5 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 Tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup grated romano cheese
salt, pepper, basil and oregano to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a large pan, saute garlic in olive oil over medium heat.  When garlic has started to soften, add chicken and cook for about 3 mins.  Add tomatoes, turn heat to low, and cover and simmer for 20 mins.  Remove chicken breasts and set aside.  Add sun dried tomatoes and herbs to the tomatoes and stir to combine.  Chop chicken into bite-sized pieces.  Add chicken and remaining ingredients, except for the romano cheese, to the pan and mix thoroughly.  Place in a large baking dish and sprinkle with cheese.  Bake for 25 mins or until cheese is brown on top.

I think that sounds YUMMY and it makes a TON of food too.  Awesome!  Also, there were some sweet recipes like microwave potato chips and refrigerator dill pickles that I'm excited to try as well.  Thanks SO much, Kimberly!  You're a great swap partner!

3  Re: Jar of Mini Whimsies Round 2 Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Decaf on: August 06, 2008 08:06:10 PM
Well I got my jar from Lucy Van Pelt on Monday (sorry it's taken me so long to post photos!)  I LOVE my jar!!! Thanks so much Lucy!  Without further ado, here we go...

The jar arrived in an awesome black bag (wine bottle bag?) which i neglected to photograph, of course.

This was what was inside the wine bag, super cute!

Here's the first selection of randomness inside the jar...how cute is that little tooth pillow/pouch?

Here's another group of awesome whimsies.  There were a ton of magnetic poetry "tiles" and some awesome Monopoly game pieces.

The buttons and beads!  *heart*

Finally, a close-up of my favorites: a ladybug nail file, a little pin with a plate, fork, knife and spoon, a tiny (!) handmade doll (I believe there is a name for these?), a God Save the Queen charm, and little post-its with a bird on them.

I forgot to take a picture of the awesome little mini-cross stitch kit she included also.

Thanks so much, Lucy Van Pelt!  You're an awesome partner!

4  Re: Amazing Hoodie Swap Round 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Decaf on: August 24, 2006 09:31:13 AM
Hey, sorry it's taken me so long to post pics of my awesome hoodie, busy time for me I guess.  Anyway, here's a couple pics.  I told NeffyTee that my cat is named Banana, so this is what she came up with! Thanks again, NeffyTee! Smiley

5  Re: any ideas for blank walls? in More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions by Decaf on: July 18, 2005 09:13:19 PM
Thanks a lot for all the advice everyone! I really like the idea about hanging purses, but being a straight man, I have a limited collection of purses... but its a killer idea regardless. Here's what i ended up doing. I framed the soundtrack to one of my favorite movies (ghost world) and a few photos I took, and one I bought, and I plan to continue adding to the wall of photos randomly. I was going to frame a bunch of post cards like was suggested, but I couldn't find any i wanted to hang. Its hard to find cool postcards in southern Minnesota, but oh well. Thanks again for all the advice.

Thanks again for all the help craftsters.
