11  Re: YARN DYEING 101 - KOOL AID in Dyeing: Completed Projects by Keletubbie on: October 01, 2006 02:01:18 AM
Right, some more dyeing! First, the Miami Vice sock yarn....

And, for a more subtle garment, some delicate rust coloured Rowanspun Aran. It was dye with Tamarind Kool Aid to stripe.

I am going to attempt this pattern again.... I dyed myself some Miami Vice-style self striping to do it with:

Great work peeps!

I thought I'd return to this thread to show you what my warnn looked like knitted up.

Here it is napping in tub after being dyed - it's orange and black cherry. The wool is Opal Undyed.... I literally dunked half of the hank in red and half in orange.

And here's the resulting sock. The striping was a nice surprise, as was the pink and peachy tones that came out as the colours got close. I am doing some more dyeing tonight so I'll let you know how it goes!

And there's more gratuitous sock pics on my blog  Cheesy

14  Feelin' Nautie? in Knitting: Completed Projects by Keletubbie on: September 10, 2006 10:40:33 AM

Ok, so you've all seen them. And I am now smitten with them.

It's Nautie from Knitty, knit in some aran weight cotton and some aran weight generic pale green stuff. He is adorable, but destined for a new home iwth an appreciative child.

There's more info and corny pics on my blog:

One down, one to go!

I will do better pics when I have finished the second one of course Smiley

16  Cabled footies... or socks for the impatient! [a bit img heavy] in Knitting: Completed Projects by Keletubbie on: September 01, 2006 06:58:40 AM

These are the Cabled Footies from One Skein. I can happily recommend them as first socks for anyone who fears the tiny needles. They're quick to knit and take minimal wool (these took about 70g of heavy worsted yarn.

However, I am a lover of all socks so am following them up with these beauties!

There are more details on both set of foot warming goodness and my other stringy exploits at my bloq:

17  Just say no to pastel baby knits! in Knitting: Completed Projects by Keletubbie on: August 28, 2006 05:55:25 AM

A baby cardigan with a bit more attitude. It was made to go with this adorable cherry hat that I posted a few weeks ago.

My boyfriend also wanted to make something for the package, hence the Baby Black Bear Hat.

There'll be patterns for the Bear hat (knit flat) and the cherry hat (in the round) on my blog ASAP but feel free to drop by for more info anyway...

Is anyone still knitting these babies? I just started mine and would love to natter with those also enjoying the addiction...

Anyone fancy it? I dunno if I have the time (or credentials) to organize but the last one was awesome!

As a testament, please see my swap object from last time...

20  Witha cherry on top... adorable baby hat. in Knitting: Completed Projects by Keletubbie on: July 30, 2006 10:32:46 AM

A friend asked me to make a cherry hat for her little one, based upon one that she'd seen in an overpriced childrens' store. So I whipped this up this afternoon while watching Veronica Mars. Isn't it cute?

Knit on 4mm DPNs with worsted weight wool blend leftovers...

I would like to put a pattern on my blog but have a suspicion that a very similar pattern already exists somewhere on the 'net. Does anyone know of one?

If not, expect a free pattern by the end of the week!
