1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / McQueen cable coat knock off on: March 31, 2007 01:47:43 PM
When I saw this coat I wanted it...or should I say, wanted to knit it!

*Image removed due to policy - Please see link above*

Then the Vogue Knitting came out with a very similar pattern. And several months later I began but it took me 6 weeks to knit, which isn't bad. I knit it with Red Heart acrylic (CHEAP!) because I read that you can wash/dry it and it will come out soft. And its true!!! I changed the arms to look more like the one in the magazine, plus I wasn't a huge fan of the patterned arms. Today I got the buttons and took the pictures:

Its so cosy, I love it!
Thanks for looking Smiley

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / NIN - Art is Resistance - creating anything on: March 19, 2007 04:02:16 PM
Is anyone making any knit related items with the new theme for the new NIN album:YEAR ZERO. If there is interest, we should commence a kNINt along, don't you think?

I started knitting up a personal patch last night, I will complete and post pics this week. I can't stand having to wait to be randomly selected to get a REAL patch.

So ...anyone else? I've been brainstorming ideas for scarves and hat...just because the new NIN logo is totally easy to knit up!!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / 15+ balls of acrylic/cotton blend - need ideas on: March 12, 2007 11:25:21 AM
So I got over 15+ balls of this acrylic cotton blend yarn from an ex knitter. Here are the stats:

- patons cotton club (read: OLD SKOOL)
- snow white !!
- knits up on 4mm - 22sts = 4"/10cm
- knits up with some irregularities (it has a shiny white thread in there  and the cotton is thicker in some part)
- I have 15 + balls of it

What do I makewith all this white yarn?? I have swatched many times in an attempt to sub it and I can't seem to find something that works. Currently it is being used to make baby gifts for some people. But I have  ALOT of it and I either want to give it away or use.

Any suggestions?

Please and thank you for reading and helping Smiley
4  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Potential Valentino knock off - knit on: July 08, 2006 03:31:36 PM
So I was cruising the Nieman Marcus site last night and I saw this:

Here's the shopping page

and I think that I can make a pretty darn close knock off if I use this:

elann.com free pattern

I will have to do some alterations in the pattern for sure. But I think that I can do it!!!

What do you think?
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Rectangle Shawl on: June 29, 2006 10:57:14 PM
I really like how this shawl looks.

Has anyone seen a similar free pattern?

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Rowan's Alpha on: February 15, 2006 08:03:43 AM
I made this hat in one afternoon. Its from Rowan's Ribbons Twist Collection. I used Rowan Ribbon Twist 115.

I used US 17 for the whole hat except the ears which were with US 15 needles. The pattern called for the 15's on the ribbing but it was too tight (prolly cause I knit tight!).

Hope you like it.

Next I want to knit a sweater from the book, but I gots to save some $$ up first.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / DPN or Circulars on: December 29, 2005 12:46:20 PM
What is your preferred method of knitting in the round? DPN (double point needles) or circulars?

Personally, I have only used DPNs. I have also discovered that I am limited in options for finding needles here...so I have just used DPNs due to availablity. (All the circulars I find here are very long for my projects and metal. UGH!!!) In fact I have to order most of the needles via the internet.

My only gripe is the spaces I develop, but I have since learned to knit an extra stitch or two at the end of each one every once in a while.

So...what about you?  Grin
