1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: panta! (from a finnish pattern). on: May 27, 2006 04:32:49 PM
I'm assuming X is just there to represent whatever number of purl stitches you have at that time. Since they change every section.

The way that I did it I CO 20sts and worked the first section:
First row: K1, K2, P1, K4, P1, K2, P1, K4, P1, K2, K1
Next row:K1, P2, K1, P4, K1, P2, K1, P4, K1, P2, K1

Then did the cables ever 4 rows or so (like crnaofca). If you scroll back a few pages there's a pic of the progression of that panta.

How big did you do your cables? Do you have a pattern on what you did?

well since i'm the slowest knitter this side of Texas I actually just finished these. I am now finishing my panta and then finishing clapotis. Knitting ADD doesn't work for me so I have to force myself to do one project at a time

**edited to add: my seaming stinks thats why it looks all pointy
3  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Kirsten Dunst Pithy hat knitalong anyone? on: May 26, 2006 01:58:30 AM
well apparantly i'm not as talented as I once thought I was because I tried to work on this while watching a movie and I messed up big time so it was frogged and I will be casting on for it again tomorrow. *sigh* I guess that's just how it goes

another vote for crochet chain...however I think it could be versatile. The ribbon looks a little more dressy to me so maybe if you were going out to eat or something. But the crochet chain makes it look laid back so like the park or something.

trying to work on 4 projects at a time isn't a good idea. I messed up on the panta and had to go back but here I am now. (actually now I'm about 6 or 7 rows more...In the middle of section 3...this photo is at the end of section 2)

I dont have any circular knitting needles so I'm using four bouble ended needles and I'm finding it hard to keep track of where each round starts and ends. Any suggestions on how to do this without knitting the marker into the actual hat? I think I'm just a gumby, I've started and re-started this hat so many times and I always seem to stuff it up somehow Sad *sigh*

I always just keep the marker on the needles and not on an actual stitch. and move it around with every round

oh my stars: THAT IS GORGEOUS!! I haven't learned colorwork yet except cutting and tieing on another color to make stripes.

twilight021: Cool! What color and what yarn?
