1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday 6/8 on: June 08, 2007 01:52:56 PM

I have been spending some time spinning primary colors (borring) for a project I have in mind.  I have also been trying to use up some of the fiber I have spun.

Remember this fiber?
It is now this shawl for my mom!

That is one beautiful shawl.

Is that the crochet-type ply?

I am very impressed with the shorts, and with the black dress. I love how it looks very very cute!

Great job!

And YAY for pockets!

Now I'm imagining adding HarryPotter/Eragon themed details... and then have a dragon character mash up.

OK, after seeing Rostitchery's WONDERFUL tut and all of the other Craftsters' dresses, I had to try one for my *pregnant* self...

It looks AMAZING!

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Caftan Pullover Interweave Knits Spring 2006 on: June 04, 2007 08:07:59 PM
I had a big bag of recycled yarn from a granny sweater I bought at a secondhand store.

I chose to knit my first sweater, the Caftan Pullover from Interweave Knits Spring 2006 issue.
I haven't seen many photographs of this knitting project. Honestly though, think about choosing a yarn you like that matches the gauge and that you like how it drapes, and knit along!

I really like how the yarn, even though it was marbled, made the motif pop. I knit the sleeves two at a time on a circular needle, and it helped me to keep them even.

I knit the smallest size, but now I'm noticing that the neckline pulls back, and the front panel sort of climbs upwards.

But all in all, I am pretty satisfied!

That is some well done shaping!!!
Did you distribute the increases taking into account your row gauge, or did you just recalculate on the increases listed in the pattern? It fits really well.
