1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: The random SPINNY babble thread :-) on: February 23, 2010 09:55:12 PM
what about making something like this? I have found a bunch of different instructions for making a lazy kate in the past, but I'm too lazy to look right now haha.

I've seen a couple of ladies in my spinning guild use something like that.   Glad that between the two of us we could cover all the bases for you freestyle!

I've always cut my singles then tied them together.  No, I don't know why so stop asking silly questions! Roll Eyes

The new Kromski Minstrel jumbo flyer kit was my Christmas present.   Grin  I haven't had a chance to use it yet.   Cry    We did get it put in though.

It looks like he has a cheaper swift on his etsy store for 22.99.

I bought my swift from this fellow.  http://scottsmtncrafts.com/yarn-swifts.html
Looks like he changed them a little from the one I bought, these have a non-folding, prettier base.  My only issue is you have to have the ball winder at the same level as the swift, which really isn't a problem.  Oh, and make sure you don't screw it on too tight.  You know, cause it has to turn and all.  Roll Eyes

Don't think I can help with the Lazy Kate issue, I bought the Kromski arched kate.  Have no idea how it would work with Ashford bobbins.

PS. The babies are so cute! Congrats ladies!

Love this show! Not sure if I could swap, but maybe!

I'm pretty sure you need 15 posts before you can join a swap.  So make sure you take a look at the swapping rules before we start the swap!  The 15 posts can include replying to other people's projects, so it really isn't too hard.

AWESOME! I'm glad the package got to you on your birthday Faren!

I did take that picture, it's of the Portland Chinese Gardens in December. I was on my way to Fong Chong's for dim sum with the fams.

I had a lot of fun crafting those for you. I saw the charm bracelets on your wisty, and couldn't resisty... (I might go to punning purgatory for that one)

Everyone loved the bracelet, I didn't have the necklace or keychain with me, my bad!  Or I'm sure they would have loved them too.

My mil came by yesterday, I was wearing the bracelet and she really liked it.  So then I had to show her all my goodies!  She thought the faerie towels and bag were really cute too!

Yay! It looks great on you!  Very cunning, don't you think?  I now have to make another one because hubby thinks his friend would really like one for Christmas.  I don't really mind since I love to spread the firefly love.  The beautiful card is from musiclady.

I had a very good birthday today! Got to visit with friends and family, lots of fun. Plus all the goodies I've gotten through this swap!

It does fit, doesn't it, Stephanie?
