mixed media, but mostly colored pencil.
She's such a cutie.

Sorry about the poor photo quality...I really need a Photography for Artists 100 class...or something.

4  Re: recyled yarn KAL? in Knitalongs by diosaperdida on: January 25, 2007 11:20:50 AM
Ok..here is where I am.
I knitted the body of the shrug...and went the easy route, with no shaping...cause...well..I felt like it?
Anyways, this is it off the machine...the yellow is waste yarn and is removed.
In machine knitting, you can chose to have live stitches left by your cast on and ...well...sort of lack of a bind off. ( The waste yarn used before you start and after you finish prevents the body of the project from unraveling.)
Anyways, I will put those live stitches on a needle for my cuffs, and I will pick up stitches along the neck for an edging there.
I decided to go with non-recycled yarn for my neck and cuff(I'm using Jiffy from lion brand, although I considered colorwaves by lion brand), since there is very little of the chenille now, and I want Bill to have it for his project.

As I mentioned, my husband and I are sharing this yarn. This is just a small portion of it.
The swatch in progress is Bill's knitting. He's swatching for a hat he's making for me with his part of the yarn.
He is using a size 4 needle..I may have to use a three then, because he knits more tightly than I do.
I originally said MUCH more tightly..but he has managed to overcome that obstacle.

6  Two cabled projects. in Knitting: Completed Projects by diosaperdida on: December 29, 2006 11:29:56 AM
Hat for my nephew, mits for me. Both are Paton's Classic Wool.
Both I just made up in my head, as I went along. The mits have a crocheted border.
Thanks for looking and commenting. Happy New year!

( The bulge under my mit is my bracelet!)

7  poodle hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by diosaperdida on: November 02, 2006 10:41:51 AM
My daughter wanted to be a puppy for halloween..a poodle puppy. So I made her this hat as well as some wristwarmers and ankle warmers, so she would have a "poodle cut"
I used some old acrylic yarn and some other stash eyelash yarn.
I has a very odd texture where the two yarns are knit together..spongy.

My basic hat pattern...which I will one day write down, with short row ears added, and the fuzzy topknot.

Thanks for looking and commenting. It is much appreciated.

( And yes...she needed a nap when the photo was taken. Smiley She wanted to nap in the hat.)

8  ponytail hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by diosaperdida on: November 01, 2006 05:02:45 PM

I actually made something for ME?
I have never in 20 plus years made something for myself.
Then I fell in love with this yarn made by ...Red Heart.
It's called "Rag Doll". Described by them as roving wrapped in a fringed thread.
It is beautiful yarn but was oily and I had to wash it before I knit it so I didn't get hives.
After all that handling, I had to make something for myself. I caved over pretty colors.
Why is it a ponytail hat?
Because I made a hole in the back for my ponytail.
I was extremely pleased by that.

Other details...hmmm

my own pattern, colorway is "Wow", and I used 10 1/2 circular and DPN's.
Thanks for looking and any comments!

10  no pattern hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by diosaperdida on: October 01, 2006 06:01:47 AM
This is a child's size hat that I made. ( hence the fact that it is too small for me)

I didn't use a pattern...more a formula based on general head sizes. I'm not 100 percent happy with the job done because I should have done the ribbing in a needle size smaller....and I know better!
Oh well..next time.
