1  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Ending it on: August 31, 2008 01:55:48 PM
How do you all tie off your weaving projects?  Do you just tie the ends and that is it?  That is what I am doing and I think it looks fine, but I'm wondering if that is a weaver's no no!

2  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Bushings replacements on: March 21, 2007 08:34:24 AM
I have having SUCH a hard time finding bushing replacements for my Lendrum bobbins.  The bushing is that little plastic piece on a bobbin.  I have called several dealers with no luck.  Even Mr. Lendrum himself said "call the dealers".  I don't want to buy new bobbins.  I could go to the hardware store and see if I can find something but I'd much rather have the thing that is MADE for the bobbin, you know?

Has anyone had to replace these and where did you get them?!
3  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Plying with a Center Pull Ball on: March 04, 2007 05:44:42 AM
I usually ply from the bobbin which leads to extra on one bobbin.  Not a huge problem, but kind of annoying that some yarn has gone to "waste".

Now, I've tried plying with one center pull ball so there is no waste.  When I tried this, it made a huge, tangly mess!  Do you know what I am doing wrong?  Maybe I am a "hard" spinner when I ply, I tend to use a lot of twist in the single and then in the ply.

What happened is that the yarn twisted on itself and made a mess.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a normal problem with this method?
4  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Felted Rings on: March 02, 2007 04:14:50 PM
Just thought I'd show you my felted rings!  So fun to make and kind of make a fiber statement!

5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Camp Pluckyfluff...in Taos!! on: January 24, 2007 07:44:14 AM

HELLO!  Does anyone want to go?  I really, really really want to go.  I am tempted just to pay the $200 to sign up and figure it all out later.

Camp is the two days before the apparently amazing Toas Wool Festival.  I'm trying to get my friend to go with me.

Is anyone else interested?
6  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Yarn Raffle to benefit Hospice on: January 10, 2007 08:34:46 PM
I hope this is ok to post...if not feel free to delete, I understand!

Anyhow I posted a yarn awhile ago on Fiber Friday that would be for raffle to honor my grandma who passed away about a month ago.  Its a special yarn...she was a crochet-er and crafter herself and after a long battle with dementia is finally at rest.

the tickets are $3 each and can be bought off my website (see my sign line for url)  ALL money will go to Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY, a small town that I grew up near.  They were so important during my grandma's final days and were so helpful to my family as well.

Anyhow, here is the yarn you can win! Be sure to enter GRANDMA in the voucher box if you buy one, so you are not charged shippig!

thank you thank you so much in advance.  I'm amazed at the generosity of the online craft community already...

also, feel free to post info on your blog, myspace or wherever others might be interested.  Raffle ends Feb 1!

I might have more later as they dry since I finished a bunch today too.  This is what I have so far...

And Fiber Explosion...a grab bag of mill ends from the Sheep Shed...this is during the process of separating it.
8  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Ashford Knitters Loom on: January 04, 2007 07:33:22 AM
Has anyone ever used the Ashford Knitting Loom?  I'm thinking of purchasing it. I make yarn but I'm not a great knitter, but I am interested in weaving, if its something I can figure out on my own.

I would love any advice or reviews!

9  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Friday!! December 1 version on: December 01, 2006 06:20:02 AM
Happy December everyone!

Here are the yarns I made this week

A scraptacular plied yarn...let me tell you...this took FOREVER b/c its spun fairly thin and both bobbins were very full.

Also a special order yarn, lime green and pinks with some lace added, spun extremely thick and thin

I don't do a lot of novelty type yarns and I had a really good time with these, so I hope to do some more for the Bazaar Bizarre in a few weeks!

Lsat, here are some sparkly batts I am working on now:

I can't wait to see yours!
