11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Got free time? Sew bags! on: September 03, 2008 08:08:26 PM
That title sort of describes my life at the moment -- my middle son moved to college last week (6 1/2 hours away  Cry), so there are no more "friends sleeping over and making messes all over the house" days!  That said, instead of being in constant clean-up mode, I've been sewing these last few days.  Whew...that was just alot of information, I know, and thanks for listening!  Cheesy  Anyway, I made these two bags --

first one:

second one:

I guess I could be doing worse...I could be out shopping and spending money to kill time!  At least I have my 10 yo daughter to keep me busy, too, and we all get to visit my son at the end of September, for the family and friends weekend.

Thanks for looking, and of course, for being my free therapy!!
12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The oh so big pleated bag on: August 11, 2008 08:03:02 PM
I'm not sure how I feel about this one...but I love the fabrics!

the un-exciting inside, but it shows the lining fabric

the "size" shot

This bag started out a bit bigger...got a little carried away with that Roll Eyes.
But then I eventually took it apart and adjusted everything, including the then too-long-strap.  I'm not personally a big bag person, but I guess there are those out there who put everything except the kitchen sink in their's!

Thanks for looking!!  Smiley
13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Rainy day Sunday bag on: August 10, 2008 04:04:38 PM
Well, technically, it's really a Saturday and Sunday bag, because it took me both days to make it!

14  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Textured Tan Large Messenger Bag on: July 13, 2008 06:40:28 PM
I finished this yesterday for my brother's MIL, who wanted a large messenger to carry her different church paperwork and booklets, etc.  But she asked me to make it soooo long ago (I won't even tell you when  Roll Eyes) that I actually don't even remember what outer fabric she wanted...oops!  So, I just picked something neutral-colored and sturdy from my ever-growing stash that matched the lining fabric, which she did pick out.  Anyway here are a few pics:

I really like making "trim" from the inside fabric so I don't have to worry about finding store-bought that matches or not!

the under-the-flap-lotsa-pockets pic

the large pocket on the back of the bag, topped with more trim

just to give an idea of size

There are alot of pockets inside, too, but I forgot to take a pic of those...you've seen one lining, you've seen 'em all!  Grin  I used 2 D rings to make the strap adjustable and made my own fabric "slide" piece, just so the long strap piece will be held up.  Thanks for looking!  Smiley
15  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The "Mistake from One Bag Used for Another Bag" Bag!?! on: July 10, 2008 08:08:12 AM
Whew...what a bunch of words it took to explain this bag!!  Grin

Anyways,  I'm in the middle of making a large messenger bag for someone and I unfortunately made the lining too small (with all of the pockets done and everything...grrr!!)  I realized I cut it 2" less wide than I should have!!  So, I decided, rather than waste that perfectly good, pocket-ready lining, I'd use it to make another bag.  Without further ado, here are the pics:

I didn't bother to put any pockets on the inside since there's already quite enough on the front!  Cheesy

16  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My Patchwork Bag on: July 03, 2008 07:59:26 AM
This is my first time doing patchwork on a bag...I've made quilts like that, but not a bag.  I was "experimenting" basically to see how this would come out, so I didn't even put pockets in this one  Roll Eyes!  Anyway, hope you all like, cause I'm not sure how I feel about it.  Huh  Thanks for looking!

17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Lollipop Madness! on: June 20, 2008 01:16:28 PM
Hi again...This is what I made today...whatcha think?  Huh

It's made with another Chocolate Lollipop fabric and another fabric that coordinated with it.  I also put a wide ribbon trim on it, too.

Thanks for looking!  Cheesy
18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Summertime Bags on: June 19, 2008 03:35:34 PM
Hi all!

Here's what I've worked on this week.

The first one is made with chocolate lollipop fabric, which I love (the fabric, I mean  Wink)

The second one...both just basic totes:

and the last one is a bag that has snaps on the sides of the bag, so it can be worn open or shut, which sort of gives it a different shape:

with the snaps shut

and open

Thanks for looking!  Cheesy
