21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Retirement gift for school "Hagrid" janitor/caretaker on: April 02, 2007 06:07:54 AM
My school caretaker has retired after having a stroke a few months back. I'll miss him terribly, he was the best janitor a school could have, for the past six years he's been so helpful and we'd always be talking about Harry Potter! He's Harry Potter mad, and we call him Hagrid because he's a big fella and he's warm and friendly just like Hagrid.. who's also a caretaker, well gamekeeper, but they have the same duties! He slightly resembles him too, minus the massive shaggy beard and hair.

I don't want to make him anything janitor-ish, those days are behind him. Any ideas people? Harry Potter related stuff is what I'm hoping for! Thanks! Smiley
22  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Wholemeal mini pizza's! Quick and easy (with pictures!) on: March 30, 2007 07:41:31 AM
I am soooooo hungry and those look fabulous! Thanks for the recipe.  I am in much need of grocery shopping. It is my least favorite thing to do so...I have nothing in my kitchen to eat right now but...you are right. I have all these ingredients! I am going to make some!

I am not vegan or vegetarian but I do love to eat the food and I like organic products.  We gave a vegan restaurant here in town called Spiral Diner and it is yummy!  If I could cook like that I may consider going vegan but my man...he may not be so happy!  Wink

Fabulous perhaps not! I'm not a professional photographer so I can't make them look as good as they are! I'm vegetarian, I wouldn't be able to go vegan, as I love cream, chocolate and cheese too much! Luckily Ireland's a small country so I know that the animals involved aren't being exploited or anything like that. We mainly buy our milk and cream from a local company... well its located in our province, which is much like a state, but smaller than a US state.

thanks for looking Smiley
23  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Wholemeal mini pizza's! Quick and easy (with pictures!) on: March 25, 2007 07:48:43 AM
I never post on this board, but this is a recipe I modified from Linda McCartneys cookbook.. I'm not very varied in what I eat, and this is one of my favourite things to eat ^_^

Its so simple, you're going to have this stuff in your cupboard.

You need:
*Wholegrain loaf (or one of those already sliced ones, as long as it wholegrain)
*Cheddar Cheese (grated) - Kilmeaden cheese (Irish) is bloody gorgeous, i have it on everything!
*Tomato Puree - I use organic
*Salt and Pepper
*Olive Oil

1. Slice your bread, crush garlic and mix with olive oil, spread on bread
2. Allow to lightly brown under grill for 2 minutes
3. Spread with tomato puree, sprinkle with oregano, salt & pepper. Grate cheese (liberally!) over slices
4. Place in grill on a medium heat for 5-10mins, until cheese has melted. Then remove and enjoy!

For the weight concious, just get some kitchen paper and press lightly on the pizzas to remove excess oil!

I usually eat three! Greedy ^_^

NOTE: I don't put the plate in the grill!!
