1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: 21 in Vegas! on: April 18, 2005 10:46:05 PM
I know I'm a little late posting this, but I just got home from the Motley Crue concert in New Orleans (it was  a birthday gift from my best friend - I'm kissing my 20's goodbye this year LoL) and that, in itself, is a HUGE gift, because they were awesome in concert :-)
2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Jordy Bag mentioned in TIME Magazine!! on: March 05, 2005 12:17:12 AM
I wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured I put it here since we've all probably had our go at the infamous Jordy bag!! Not only is craftster.org mentioned, with comments from the awesome Leah, but Jordy is mentioned by name, as well as her infamous "Jordy Bag".
You can see the article here. How awesome! Go Jordy!!!
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Maternity Scrubs? on: February 10, 2005 09:06:39 PM
anyone here make or know how to make Maternity Scrubs? My cousin is just starting to show and is an XS and having a hard time finding affordable scrubs! She's a newlywed, and both her and her husband are in college, so they are pretty much in the poor house until they graduate next year. If anyone could either a) help me make her some maternity scrubs, or b) make them for her (I will pay for them!), I would greatly appreciate it!
Also, if anyone has any XS Maternity clothes they are looking to get rid of, PLEASE please e-mail me! heather@gracietom.com

Thanks guys! I haven't taken a course, but that really sounds interesting! There are still a lot of things I'd like to learn that are driving me crazy trying to figure out, lol, so that might help!

In the ones above, I used headpins, jump rings and tigertail wire. I just ordered some illusion wire (love those necklaces!), some 22 gauge wire, and some chain - woohoo! I love dangle earrings with chain!

I started a few years ago with an interest in jewelry when my best friend and I were pregnant with our first babies (that also developed into GracieTom lol) and wanted to make baby bracelets... but, they were just too small for me, and I got irritated fast- never even considering making my OWN jewelry (duh!!). Then out of nowhere, I found myself attracted to beads... beads... beads... and so I started buying them and stocking up, not sure what to with them all. Then, I created a website for a client that designs jewelry - of course, I didn't want to knock off her jewelry as it was very unique in it's own way, but I realized that I had some ideas of my own that *if I could just get them to hang right, or lay right, or even get them on the wire right* would be just as beautiful, so I sat down one night with The Apprentice and ER and went to town. Now, I'm addicted!  Wink

btw.. all of these pieces are for sale at www.gracietom.com !!!

Thanks ;-)
I just used jump rings... I can't find (or don't know where to look!) any chain to use. If anyone knows where I can find some, I'd appreciate it :-)

I made some more last night, and I'm really excited with how they turned out! What do you think?

Thanks! That picture is a bracelet. I made a necklace to match, also, but haven't gotten a picture of it yet..

I just wanted to get some opinions... I've been wanting to try making jewelry for awhile, and have been collecting supplies and decided to go ahead and give it a shot...

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bottle Cap Magnets on: February 03, 2005 08:21:46 AM
I started off beating the heck out of my bottlecaps with a rubber mallet, and got this:

I wasn't very happy with it (I was also using the diamond glaze instead of resin...)
I bought some new bottlecaps (you can get them in the scrapbook section of craft stores, or on e-bay) and some two part resin, and am much more pleased with the results:

Plus... it's a lot less manual labor, lol...
