Color copying is a great idea.  If you goto Kinkos or whatever copy place avial to you...  you should take your albums and make color copies of each page.. mount them in a new book with all acid free products.

I actually do alot of business on ebay.  Paper bag albums are the cheapest to make and easiest to sell.
4 paper bags the size of lunch bags... fold them in half, put them together and bind.  Decorate and you are done.  I charge around $20 per album.  And people love them.  Advertising... newspapers, flyers... anything works... have an open house... where you invite all of your friends and family over, tell them of your idea and book some sales!  Go on ebay... search paper bag albums to get some ideas!  They are so fun to make, and are really great gifts.  they turn out to be aprox 5x5 albums!  Good luck!

Paper bags are awesome!  I take 4 lunch size paper bags... fold them in half 4 hole punch on the side... tie up with ribbon and start decorating.  They are pretty simple.  And a ton of fun.  My first 2-4 were pretty sad looking... but the more you make, the better they get.  I have some in my idea gallery on my site.

Basic tools, Scissors, I would start with a smaller album 8x8 or 6x6 and papers!
The rest will come with time.  I have ideas on my site that might help you get ideas.  Also, I offer pre made pages!  They are all hand made and multi layered, fully embelished.  I use them to get caught up!

I personally hate gel pens!  But I know that if you want them to last longer... storing them in the fridge does the trick.  But I always have problems with them.
