1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Please help! Question about Hemlock Ring Blanket pattern on: November 21, 2007 07:42:22 AM
Thanks for posting this - I hit an error a while back and thus my blanket has gone into hibernation - I'll have to see if this was the problem (it was couple of months ago so I can't remember now!)

Hi - Kureyon chan looks good - and of course you had just the right button for it  Cheesy

Yay! I'm so glad it finally arrived and you like it! I laughed when I opened mine and it had a stick of rock in it too, but of course I couldn't mention that before....

I've already knitted up the shrug with the yarn you sent me (must take a pic) - its a bit on the small side but very cute and soft and lovely  Smiley

I thought the soap would have made it all a bit whiffy after sitting in an envelope for 2 weeks!

And the chocolate spread is indeed edible - enjoy  Grin

Wildcat postal strike continues in Liverpool  Cry

Grrr... I am so fed up with this - and I'm not even the one waiting for my package to arrive!!!

GAH!!!  Thank you!!!  I could never figure out how to get the guide to stay up!!!!

Glad to be of assistance!

Littlebluegirl, I'm crossing my fingers that the post office workers will get themselves sorted very soon! I feel so bad that I've had my package for ages and yours hasn't arrived yet!

Itscute, yes, it is just the royal mail, not other couriers - they've basically been out for a week and there are still 'wildcat' strikes going on. We just got a week's worth of junkmail through the door, I think it will take them a while to catch up  Angry

I love my ball winder(although I'm not so sure I'm using it correctly... the ball is kinda wonky)!

Mini hijack here - glittergirl, are you using the guide when you use your ball winder? That little metal bit with a loop at the top - you can see it on the left in your picture - should be upright (if you hold it up and then pull it out a little it will stay in place) - then you run the yarn though the loop as it winds on, which helps to guide it up and down the winder as it turns (I also run it through my fingers just before the loop, so I can control the tension it winds at) - and voila, a beautiful yarn cake!

end hijack!

I received my package form littlebluegirl last Monday, but made myself wait until her package was in the post before I opened my own - I knew I'd get distracted by all the goodies and I was trying (unsuccessfully it seems) to beat the postal strike here in the UK... Anyhoo, I was soooo happy when I started unwrapping & unwinding my MYB!

Here's an early shot of it...

partly unwound (and very badly lit!)

the full contents

and a selection of the goodies

The yarn is Rowan kid classic (so soft and lovely!), and the pattern is for a cute looking shrug - it looks to be a really quick knit so I just need to get hold of the right size needles (an excuse for one of the many purchases I will be making at the knitting and stitching show at the end of the week...)

The goodies included:

homemade fudge (very good - and I'm from devon so I should know!)
a flower brooch
a record bowl (my boyfriend nearly had a fit that someone would do such a thing to a record, but I love it - might have to bring it to work!)
a knitted cupcake
a candle
a button brooch and a button bracelet (and lots of buttons which randomly fell out as I was unwinding, which made me smile)
a stick of rock and roll of frosties sweets (I'd forgotten how much I loved them when I was little!)
a hershey's cookies bar and some japanese sweeties (I'd mentioned that I'd like some stuff that you don't usually get here in the UK - thanks so much for finding some cool stuff for me  Smiley )
chocolate soap
a reusable shopping bag (excellent as I always like to carry one of these with me)

and loads of other stuff - thanks littlebluegirl, you've been really generous and made this an excellent first swap - I hope you like what I sent you (when it finally arrives...)

Jxx
8  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap 6 (CLOSED!!!!sendout: 10/5/07) on: October 05, 2007 05:21:43 AM
I managed to send out on Wednesday, but there's a postal strike here so I'm afraid there might be a delay in littlebluegirl receiving her parcel  Sad

I received my MYB earlier in the week and saved opening it until I'd finished off and sent out (I'm too easily distracted, I have to be firm with myself!) and I'm really happy with it - will write more in the gallery page at the weekend!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What patterns have you knitted more than once on: October 01, 2007 05:27:35 AM
I've made clapotis twice - once full sized and once as a scarf. Otherwise I tend to try new patterns as there are so many out there that I would like to try!

My parcel arrived in the post this morning - thanks littlebluegirl!

I'm going to *try* not to open it until I've got everything sorted for sending, otherwise I'll only get distracted  Cheesy
