41  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / quick small chart for a small space and a big gauge on: November 16, 2006 11:39:35 AM
hi there!!!

I just knit myself some mittens and then a scarf made from the same yarn with contrast yarn held together...but now the mitts dont exactly match the scarf. So I need a chart that will accomodate my 3.5 sts/5 rows per inch. Then I can just use the duplicate stitch with the matching contrast yarn.....you see?....

I'm looking for a simple star or snowflake or skull( although maybe thats a bit too complicated)

the image can't be too descriptive....

any suggestions?
42  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Cropped Jacket from KNIT1 Summmer 2006 on: September 25, 2006 09:59:00 AM

I've miscalculated....turns out I should've made the xs size instead of the small.......I want this sweater to look good so I'm gonna have to take out all the seaming and take all of the seams in by 2 or three stitches Angry
so I wont be posting mine for a week or so........... Angry Angry Angry

44  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / beeswax candles.....what kind of wick on: September 18, 2006 09:04:08 AM
hi there.....I'm filling up all of my old teal light tins with beeswax....but I know that the secret of a good candle is in the wick - it must be the correct size in relation to the diameter of the candle. I also know that beeswax candles need a wick about twice the thickness of that for paraffin.......what knid of wick gauge should I be looking for here?
45  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Lace Edged Jacket-a-long!! (Summer 06 Vogue Knitting) on: September 13, 2006 10:38:21 PM

46  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / phosphorescent yarn....where can I get it? on: September 13, 2006 02:28:20 PM

47  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: fall issue of knit1 2006 "tv issue"...what do you think? on: September 09, 2006 01:25:55 PM
Haha, when I first read that there was someone from ANTM in it, I thought it might be Kim, and it was! She's such a fame-whore, it's ridiculous.

yeah I had a good laugh about it too especially since they kicked her off the show for having "only one look" and the photos in this magazine all look the same......I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's guilty pleasure is antm......ahahhahahahah I'm such a TV addict which is why I thought I'd enjoy this issue more but alas.... Tongue

I'm a fan of the recent issue of vogue knitting too exept all of the patterns are either waaaaaay to detailed or in the tiniest of gauges ....I have a hard time focusing on stuff like that...which is why I already have about 5 unfinished projects that I started over the past 2 years that are sitting in a box....thats usually why I like knit1....because their projects are a bit more manageable....but....yeah...all in all...I'd say this issue could be better...I'm finishing up the green sweater from the summer isssue right now...

p.s. I DID notice the craftster t....which made me happy

ok so none of the stores in my area that do sell lion brand carry anything worsted weight....so I had to order my wool ease online....I just got an email saying my order had just been shipped...and it still cost me less than $25.....YIPEEE...I can't wait to get started.....and I'm sure I'll get started as soon as it arrives....I'll post pics when I'm done.

p.s. does anyone know when the next issue of knit1 is scheduled for release? Also does anyone know where I can buy the previous issues....I LOVE this knitting magazine.

Love Jane

september 12th

on the last page, they always list when the next issue comes out.

I'm subscribed Cheesy so I got my mag a few days ago ^ ^

its weird that I bought it before it was supposed to be released........oh well.....

I started a thread to discuss the new issue....

so I just bought the new "TV issue" of knit1 magazine

I'm not 100% crazy about the designs in this issue...although I did get a laugh out of seeing that girl from America's next top model doing the "basic cable segment"....

I liked the cabled hat & scarf combo and the cabled leg warmers in bright red would be cute...

I liked some of the ruffled stuff but none of it would suit me...

there was an awesome crochet skirt in the bookworm section but I would never dedicate that kinda time and 28 skeins of yarn to just one project unless I was getting paid to do it...

I liked the pi sweater vest...and the felted checkerboard was cute...all in all I thought some of the designs were pretty good but I didn't see anything I simply had to make like in previous issues

what do you guys think? Undecided
