1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: mr dangly - knitted monkey (with pattern) on: October 30, 2008 08:36:38 AM
ok so I have not knitted for long and only simple flat projects. I decided to take this project on, for christmas gifts.  I am not finshed yet but my peices so far seem to be smaller then those posted.  I used cotten yarn so they can handl the many trips in the wash cycle ( they are for little ones) and I still used size 3 needles I think either the yarn or maybe I am a tight knitter... any feedback would be great I am using the peaches and cream yarn

Size 3 is probably too small for the sugar 'n cream yarn. I used 8's and mine turned out great!

I finally made my own Mr. Dangly!

I'm a terrible seamstress, so I followed this pattern http://kathrynivy.com/news/14/52/ by gschnebly to knit his parts in the round.

I made him for a friend's baby for her first birthday, and used Lily Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn on size 8 dpns.
3  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: ideas with basil??? on: July 28, 2008 09:22:11 AM
I know it sounds a little odd, but trust me, this is a killer combo: basil lemonade. Just make some lemonade, chop up some basil, and toss it in. Strain out the basil and enjoy a really refreshing drink! Perfect for summer, I tell you.
4  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Cupcake Truffles + tute! (pic heavy) on: July 21, 2008 07:12:50 AM
2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup crushed raspberries (I used frozen), 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Mix it together and drop in a little more lemon juice until it's the desired consistency. The raspberry tastes great with the chocolate.

I made a much less fancy version of these for a friend's birthday at work. I just made little bite-sized balls, and then drizzled on melted chocolate chips and home made raspberry icing (more like a glaze). They weren't as pretty as the ones in the tute, but the folks at the office are loving them!
6  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Super tasty tofu cutlet! *recipe* on: July 20, 2008 03:16:17 PM
I just finished making this recipe. In fact, I'm eating it right now. I used whole grain angel hair pasta instead of udon, actual Rice Krispies, and Montreal Steak seasoning instead of rub. I also made a simple vinegarette for the greens with the leftover soy sauce, some white wine vinegar, a little sesame oil and olive oil.

This dish is simple and tasty. The hot tofu over the cold noodles and greens is very nice indeed.

Thanks for the recipe, I'll definitely make it again!

8  Ohio / Ohio: Southwest / Re: Yarn Stores in Cincinnati on: November 20, 2007 06:19:59 AM
I have long since moved from my beloved Cincinnati, but just in case anyone found my thread, you need to know the best yarn store in the greater Cincinnati area is Lambikins (http://www.lambikinshideaway.com/) in Hamilton.

Believe me, it's worth the trip!
9  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: Son of Stitch 'n Bitch on: November 20, 2007 06:14:28 AM
I picked up a copy this past weekend at Borders. The double-knit argyle scarf sold it for me. I'll be damned if I'm making that for anyone else...I'm saving that pattern for me!

I can't wait to get started on the luchadore mask so my boyfriend can ride his bike in style this winter.
